Pure Innocence - MFT Sketch #56

Hello! I am so excited that I managed to squeeze in a few moments to put together a card for this weeks My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers. Here is my card:
And here is the sketch:

I just can't get enough of these Pure Innocence stamps! They are so cute! I turned the sketch on it's side, and did a little bit of substituting for this card.
The paper is all from my Basic Grey Picadilly 6x6 paper pad - definitely one of my very FAVORITES!!! And I just got my first MFT Die-namic - the cute flourish - which I think I will be using a LOT!!! It is so pretty!
I colored the girl with my Copic markers, and added a doily behind the image. Also inked the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink in Antique Linen.
Added some machine stitching, and some more inking on the pattern paper with Vintage Photo distress ink.
The flourish is kind of partly tucked behind the image also.
Once again - thanks for stopping by! Hope you are having a beautiful day!!!

Winner from Snowman Blog Hop!

Wow - what a crazy weekend for me! I still feel like I need the week to recover! I got some unexpected news last Thursday that kind of knocked me for a loop, then spent the next day babysitting my adorable 3 year old nephew while my brother-in-law went in for an unexpected surgery. Got home that night with my two girls, and had about an hour before I was called by a friend who had finally gone into labor! So I dashed off to the hospital, brought her their two daughters and dog home with me, got them all settled in for the night (or so I thought!), left them with the hubby, and dashed back to take pictures for them! I got to be there for the birth - and what an amazing experience! I don't think that could ever get old! Anyway, got back home about 3 AM, and found out that there were some girls still awake! Ended up with about 3 hours sleep, then we took the girls in to meet their new baby sister, then spent the day with them until Mom, Dad, and baby were released from the hospital that evening. So yesterday...we just slept in as long as we could, and made it to church just in time for services! If you want to see a picture of the baby, check out my other blog HERE!!! She's a cutie!!!

Anyway, now that I have rambled on needlessly for so long - I still remembered to announce the winner from the snowman blog hop this last weekend. Used random.org to generate a number:

Which means the winner is:

Congratulations Emily!!! When you get a chance, send me an email (housesbuiltofcards@gmail.com) with your address so I can get that in the mail to you!!!

Hopefully I will start getting caught up on some crafty stuff today, and be able to share it with you soon! Have a great day!!!

Peachy Keen Challenge - Photo Inspiration

If you're looking for the Snowman Blog Hop (and giveaway), click HERE or scroll down to the previous post!

It's Friday again - so time for another Peachy Keen Challenge! This week the challenge is an inspiration photo. But first, here is my card for the challenge:

The Challenge:
Create ANY project of your choice using this photo as inspiration. Be sure to check out the rules on the Peachy Keen sidebar if this is your first time playing along. Click HERE to head over to the Peachy Keen Challenge Blog to read all about how to join in on the fun, and earn "Top Peach"!!!

Isn't this picture is GORGEOUS?!?!?!?! I would love to step right into it and join the party! Definitely puts me in the mood for spring! I decided that the picture couldn't possibly be more girly, and fell in love with the colors - so that is what inspired my card!
I used this super cute set for my card - LOVE the sentiments that go with the ADORABLE image! I didn't realize until I looked at this that I happened to color her pretty much exactly the same colors as the front of the package! Hmmm...guess they must be perfect for her, huh? :0)

I used my Copics to color her, then used some papers from a My Mind's Eye 6x6 paper pad for the rest of the card.
Inked the edges of the white cardstock with Tim Holtz distress ink in Antique Linen (my favorite) and the edges of the pattern paper with Vintage Photo (my other favorite!)
The banner on the top left is hand trimmed, and I pop-dotted the main image from the background. This picture shows it a little better I think:
Finished off with a Papertrey Ink Button, and a bit of Papertrey Ink Button Twine. I kind of like both of those things a lot too!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I had so much fun checking out all your entries for the Pocket Challenge from last week - and can't wait to see what you create this week! Have fun playing along!!!

Michelle's 1 year Blog Anniversary Snowman Hop! (Giveaway Alert...)

Hello! I am happy to be joining Michelle from Scrapbooking SOS to help celebrate her 1 year Blog Anniversary! If you are just coming here from Pattie Beach, then you are on the right track! If click HERE to head back to Michelle's blog and start from the beginning!

Here is my project I made for the hop:
Isn't that the happiest snowman you ever saw?!?!?! I just love him! I cut him using my Cricut and Snow Friends cartridge, and added a cute face using my Peachy Keen In Stitches Face Assortment.
I inked the edges of each layer with Tim Holtz distress ink in either Antique Linen or Vintage Photo, and put Diamond glaze on his boots for a bit of shine. Also used my Copic markers to color in the face just a bit.
Except the kraft, all the paper is from October Afternoon, as well as the lace and pom pom trim along the bottom.
I ran some kraft paper through my Cuttlebug using the snowflake folder, but leaving the very bottom out of the folder for my sentiment. The sentiment is a rub on from October Afternoon that I got in one of their Santa Sacks this year.
I also cut off one of the pom poms and put it on the top of his hat!
Finished off by pop-dotting the snowman from the background for some fun dimension!

Now - if you made it this far through my LONG post, I have a little giveaway for you! I know it is a snowman hop (and I love snowmen) - but I have to say I am starting to get excited about spring! So how about a bright and fun spring paper pad? These papers are so cute, and I have loved using them...and I have an extra to share with someone who leaves a comment for me! So - leave a comment, about anything you like, and I will draw a winner on Monday! Make sure to come back and check and see if you won!

Now it's time to head off to your next stop - Sue in CT! Here is the entire line-up in case you get lost along the way!

Playing with the February Peachy Keen Kit of the Month!

Oh my goodness! Can I just say how much FUN the new Peachy Keen Kit of the Month is?!?!?!? There is so much fun stuff to play with! And the extra releases are super cute too! Here is what I just made playing with the new sets:
Here are the sets I used:

I used the big clover from the Kit, as well as a face, and fussy cut him out. The background on the yellow is stamped with Tim Holtz distress ink in Peeled Paint. The sentiment is from the Kiss Me Leprechaun set.
The paper is all from Basic Grey's 6x6 Out of Print Paper pad. I inked the edges of the yellow just a bit with the same ink I used for stamping the shamrock background.
The details of the face are colored with my Copic Markers. I also added some stitching around the edges to tie in with the stitching on the large clover.
And then, since it just seemed to need a little something more, I made a ruffle with some Tim Holtz white ribbon trim, tied around some October Afternoon yellow twine from the Sidewalks wrap pack, and added a Papertrey Ink button and some button twine. Oh yes...also tied a bit of the button twine around the stem of the shamrock as well!
Thanks so much for stopping by! And if you are still interested in getting the January Kit of the Month, there is still time, as long as you sign up by the 31st of January! Head over to the Peachy Keen Website for all the details.

A True Friend!

I will be back a little later today with the winner from Angelica's Birthday Blog Hop - so if you haven't gotten your comment in for a chance to win, click HERE to go do it - and hurry!!!

Oh - I LOVE this card! I think it is especially the colors - but it just makes me happy! I had some paper from Crate Paper's "My Paper Heart" line that I was dying to use, and then when I won the Tiny Tag Greetings set from My Creative Time a week or so ago, it suddenly popped into my head that these cute tags would make an adorable banner! So I woke up the next morning, and put this together:
I used my Creative Memories shape cutter to trim the oval out of the center of the floral paper. Then I used the reverse of the paper to mount behind it - using foam adhesive between the two layers!
I strung the tags on some Papertrey Ink button twine, and pop dotted them to secure them to the card.
Both the sentiments are from two different stamp sets from My Creative Time. I stamped the bottom one on the stitched oval die that I have had for a little while - and love!
So - there it is! I am also entering this in the Die Cutting Challenge over at Moxie Fab World Cool Tools Challenge.

Hi Sweetness...MFT Getting Sketchy Challenge #55

Good morning! If you are looking for the Peachy Princess Blog Hop, click HERE or scroll down to the last post (pssst...if you didn't notice, there is a giveaway as well!).

This morning I wanted to share the card I made for this weeks Getting Sketchy Challenge with My Favorite Things. Here is my take on the sketch:
And here is the sketch:

As you can see, I rotate the sketch 180 degrees, so the flower was on the bottom left, instead of top right. Other than that, I stuck pretty exactly to the sketch.
I used some of my favorite My Minds Eye papers, and did some machine stitching.
The image is one of my Pure Innocence sets, which I stamped and colored with Copics, right onto the pattern paper. Used an EK Success edge punch for the notebook paper edge,  and put a heart shaped doily behind it. The edges are also inked with Tim Holtz distress ink in Vintage Photo.
Finished off with a flower cut with my Cricut using Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge, with a Papertrey Ink button and twine on top of it.
Well - that's it for now! I'm hoping to get some more time to play today, between homeschooling and that thing we call housework...wonder why that always has to get in the way! Oh well, I am grateful for a house to take care of!

Thanks for stopping by today!

A Peachy Princess Birthday Blog Hop (and a giveaway!!!!)

Surprise!!! Happy Birthday Angelica!!! Since today is the Peachy Princess's birthday, the new Peachy Design Team, along with the alumni, and the Market Street Stamp Design team - put together this hop to celebrate! I have a little giveaway at the very bottom of this (very long...) post - so make sure and scroll down to see the details!

You should have arrived here from Jennie - but if you just happened along, please start at the Peachy Queen's Blog and follow along to join in all the fun!

Here is my card - which is in the mail and should be arriving at your house any time Angelica, if you didn't get it already! I kept it fairly flat so that I could mail it easily - without worrying about it getting damaged!
I used the cute little image, Natalee (click on the name to follow the link to the Peachy Store if you want to check it out!), stamped on some Cosmo Cricket paper, and colored with my Copics, right on the pattern paper! Added some cute freckles with my white gel pen too!
I used some more pattern paper from the same paper stack, cut a border with a Martha Stewart border punch, and inked all the edges of everything with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. Here is a close up of the coloring:
Finished off with a bit of Papertrey Ink button twine to tie a cute little bow around it.

Here is the entire line-up in case you get lost:

Heather  - You are Here!

And last but not least - I thought it would be fun to do a little birthday giveaway! So...leave a comment below, and I will draw a winner later this week to win this:
