Getting back in the groove - with a new Peachy Keen Challenge!

Hello, long lost friends! I finally got my craft room unpacked enough to start getting caught up again on Design Team stuff a bit! So it was my turn to provide some inspiration for this weeks Peachy Keen Challenge - and this week it is a color challenge. Here is my card:

And here is the color inspiration - I promise in real life my card matches the colors a bit better. New house, new state, new weather patterns - and that means I need to do some tweaking to perfect the lighting for taking pictures. This was my first attempt, so I'm sure it will get better!

I used some new October Afternoon Woodland Park paper that I bought while my craft stuff was packed, and couldn't wait to use! My crafty skills are a bit rusty, so please excuse me! 

I used this cute image and sentiment set:

PK-125 Recess Jump Rope Girl - $9.95

She is colored with Copic markers on a circle I cut and embossed with a Spellbinder's Nestabilities Die. Inked the edges of everything with Tim Holtz distress ink in Antique Linen, then added a bit of Baker's Twine to bring the gray color in and a bit of Washi Tape from the OA Woodland park collection as well to pull everything together.

Happy Girls are the Prettiest - a little catching up

So I ended up getting a bit behind on the MFT Getting Sketchy Challenges - but really liked this sketch, and didn't want to miss it! I kind of took some liberty with the sketch - but I like how it turned out!

Here is the sketch: 

This actually came together pretty quickly. I layered some washi tape from Martha Stewart on my pattern paper, trimmed it to the right size for a card background and rounded the top two corners.

Added the sentiment along the bottom - LOVE that sentiment! 

Added one of the Pure Innocence girls right above the washi tape, covering where I didn't want stamped with a piece of plain cardstock to protect it. 

Finished off with a couple of stick on pearls. Simple and sweet!

Friends with Flair - Adoption wall art

I have a very special Unity Friends with Flair post for today! A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to get a fun prize pack from Unity Stamp company, and in it was the new set - Born in my Heart - full of adoption sentiments! I was so excited about this, because my older brother and his wife are in the process of adopting a little girl from Ethiopia. The process has been long and trying, but they are getting lower on the wait list, and beginning to feel the anticipation more and more as the day grows closer.

(Edited to add: in the past week or two things have taken a turn...my brother has been out of work, and since he hasn't yet gotten full time employment, they have been dropped by their adoption agency. They are appealing the decision, but also know that the Lord has called them to adopt, so one way or the other, adoption is in their future. I know they would appreciate your prayers in this time of heartbreak!) 

So...I wanted to make a little gift for my sis-in-law, and my new someday niece! Even though I had the idea in my head for a long time, it took me a while to actually accomplish it, but here is the result of that effort:

I used my Cricut and Elegant Edges cartridge to cut the frame, embossed the top of it with my Cuttlebug, and inked the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink. Stamped the sentiment on the bottom, added some stick on pearls, and tied some jute twine from Ribbon Carousel around it, topped off with a PTI button. 

The silhouette was then cut with A Child's Year, and I inked the edges of that as well, before attaching it with foam adhesive to the frame. Finished off by inking the edges of the pink background paper with matching Tim Holtz distress ink to finish it off. 

I just love this beautiful sentiment! Soooo true...can't wait to meet my new little niece (Chloe) when she arrives - and praying for her now until the time comes! 

Mother's Day Teacup #2

Hello and welcome back! Here is the second teacup I made for Mother's Day - this one was for my Mom:

Pretty similar information I guess - the teacup, flowers, and leaves were cut with my Silhouette Cameo, and cut files from the Silhouette store. 

Inked the edges of the leaves and teacup with Tim Holtz distress ink, then added Glossy Accents and Martha Stewart chunky glitter along the rim of the teacup for some sparkle and shine! 

Wrapped up chocolate in tulle, tucked it inside the teacup with a doily behind it, tied a big bow and added a stick pin and a resin flower to the center of the bow.

And I don't know if I added yesterday or not - but I also put some American Crafts white lace around the teacup - just because it felt like it needed it!

Mother's Day Teacup #1 (A little past due in posting!)

I know...this is WELL past the time I should have posted it - but life happened and I never got around to it! But...it is nice to have this to share while we are moving and I don't have time to craft - so I guess it's okay anyway! This actually the one I made for my mom-in-law - I'll share the other one that I made for my mom tomorrow!

I used my Silhouette Cameo, and a cut file from the Silhouette store for the teacup, and for the flowers and leaves. 

Inked the edges of each leaf and the teacup with Tim Holtz distress ink, then used some Glossy Accents and Martha Stewart coarse glitter along the top edge to add a little glam and glitter!

Finished off by wrapping some chocolates in some tulle, tucking them inside the teacup with a doily behind them (you can barely see it in the picture above) and added a stick pin and resin flower in the center of the tulle bow.
