Gold Feathers - PTI Anniversary Challenge

Hello! Popping in really quick today with a few last minute challenge cards! Had a fun and productive evening last night, and made a few to catch up on several I had been wanting to play along with! First up, one for one of the Papertrey Ink challenges - Use nothing but metallics and neutrals:

I used a stamp set I have had for quite a while, and hasn't seen nearly enough use - Feather Finery, and the coordinating Feather Finery Dies. They were stamped on vellum and embossed in gold. I used my Score Board to make a framed score line on the card base using Rustic Cream cardstock, and misted a bit with some Gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine. Tucked some gold thread behind the feathers, attached with a tiny piece of foam adhesive at the top and a dot of glue on the bottoms, and added a few Pretty Pink Posh sequins. Finished off with a few drips of black Color Shine.

Foxy Welcome Baby

Good morning! One of the trends I have loved lately is foxes - and I was a little slow to get it, but I had to get my hands on this adorable Papertrey Ink fox. I finally had a chance to use it recently to make a card for a friend who was having a little boy - here is what I came up with.

LOVE this beautiful inspiration piece for this weeks Cure for the Monday Blues Challenge:

I stamped the fox, fussy cut it out, and paper pieced the face and tail parts, then attached with foam adhesive to the notebook paper that I cut out with another PTI die. Added my sentiment from a separate PTI stamp set, some enamel dots, a bit of jute twine tied with an October Afternoon button, and some pattern paper from Studio Calico. Finished off with a couple of rounded corners, and a kraft cardbase.

PTI February Blog Hop - Sweet Spring

Good morning! I'm excited to be joining in this month on the monthly Papertrey Ink Blog hop - I am in love with feathers, so when PTI released Feather Finery, I knew I had to have it! I was excited to pull them out and play with them for my card for today:

Here is the photo inspiration - see the colors in the top right photo? Yep! Those are the ones I used:

I stamped my feathers with Hero Arts Mint Julep and Soft Cantaloupe ink, then added the dots in the center with Delicata Golden Glitz ink.

I matted my card with some Berry Sorbet card stock, then used Aqua Mist for my card base.

Finished off with a couple splashes of Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine.

PTI Anniversary Challenge #1

Since Papertrey Ink is celebrating their 7th anniversary, I didn't want to miss a chance to join in with the festivities! This is for Challenge #1:

I used the following color combo and sketch - I didn't quite get all of the colors in there, but hopefully it is close enough!

I used the Simply Jane Stamp set for my sentiment, stamped with Hero Arts ink, and the coordinating dies for my silhouettes. Added a bit of glitter cardstock, and some jute twine to finish it off.

Stenciled, Pink, and Thanks!

Hello! I had planned on photographing this and posting this much earlier this morning - but we woke up to a power outage this morning! We have lived her in Wyoming for a year and a half, but this is the first time the power has gone out for more than a minute or two (a fact I pointed out last night when our power blinked off...I guess THAT was proved wrong!) Anyway - I am very grateful that we had a gas fireplace to keep us warm, a gas range to cook warm food on, and that we had a remarkably warm night for a January in Wyoming. Last year temps were in the -30 and near -40 degree range at night - but last night our low was only 19 degrees. 

This was the card I made for my homework in the Stenciled Class I am taking, as well as for the January Papertrey Ink Blog Hop:

The Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop Challenge was to use nothing but pink, and neutral colors. Here is the graphic - I love pink, so this was totally inspiring:

For my Stenciled Class homework, I picked a couple different techniques shared, and merged them into one. 

First - I LOVE LOVE LOVE Debby Hughes method of sponging with distress ink using a stencil. I used a MFT stencil, and a couple colors of Tim Holtz distress ink on white Avery Elle cardstock. Next, I loved Jennifer McGuire's technique of sprinkling sparkling embossing powder over the distress ink, since they stay wet a little extra long. It is incredibly difficult to see in the pictures, but the front stenciled area is also glittery and sparkly - LOVE that touch!

I stamped my sentiment from Papertrey Ink on vellum, and heat embossed with white powder, then tied it to the front panel with hemp twine (after punching a couple tiny holes through both layers) - I wanted it to be fairly free from the stenciling, so I didn't attach it any other way than just with the hemp twine.. Added a PTI button in the center, a couple of sequins, and then attached it all with foam adhesive to my card base.

Tangerine Case Study

Good morning! Just popping in to share a card for a couple challenges:

I took the colors from the first photo, and the shape and layout from the second one. I used a PTI stamp set and some MFT inks to add the rows of diamonds. 

Sentiment was stamped with MFT Kraft ink, I added some Avery Elle Kraft sequins, and tied a bit of jute twine around in a bow. Finished off by mounting the front panel with foam adhesive on a kraft cardbase.

PTI Watercolor challenge

Hello! I'm super excited to share my card for today's Papertrey Ink Anniversary Challenge - to use Watercolor technique on a project - I so love how it came out so soft and pretty! 

I used the Mini Mehndi Medallion stamp set, and first stamped the large image in Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist, and Harvest Gold on Watercolor Paper. I then used a water brush to smear that around, and gave it plenty of time to dry, before stamping the same thing in the same colors on top of each one.

Next, I grabbed some of the smaller ones and stamped them randomly around on the rest of the area. 

It still felt like it needed a little more watercolor effect, so I smudged my ink pads on my non-stick mat, rubbed my water brush in the ink, then added some bits of smeared ink on the paper. 

Let all that dry one more time, then stamped a sentiment from "Heart Print Sentiments" over the top, added a couple wraps of jute twine, and a wooden button.

Finished off by mounting that on a Lemon Drop Cardstock base using foam adhesive. Yep...I think I'm in love with the watercolor technique!

PTI Anniversary Color Challenge

So...today the kids were worn out and tired, and so was I! So I didn't get much done...in fact was going to redo this, since I can't say it is my favorite card ever, but oh well! I need to get it posted for Papertrey Ink's Color Challenge for today..so I'm gonna post it as is:

I picked this color combo for inspiration:

I stamped my little coffee cup (Heart to Heart Mini stamp set) three times, then stamped the centers in Harvest Gold, Pure Poppy, and Blueberry Sky. The top half of the sentiment is Enchanted Evening, and the second half is New Leaf. 

I kind of wish I had left it plain, but I decided to color them in with coordinating Copic markers. 

I then added some little swirls for steam from another stamp set (Simply Jane) and added a bit of bling.

It is hard to see in the photos, but I scored the edges of the front panel, and the front of the card for a frame effect.

PTI Anniversary Challenge - Birthday Chevron

Alrighty - finally, here is card number 3 for the Papertrey Ink Anniversary Challenge Day 2 for the Printable Freebies:

The challenge for this was to use one of the free downloadable images to create a card:

Something about the colors and the chevrons on this image - just HAD to become a card!

I used the Diamond Cover Plate to emboss the kraft paper, then distressed the edges of that, and the rounded off corners of the image panel, as well as a trimmed frame with some Pebbles papers. 

Stuck those two layers together - wrapped some jute twine around and tied in a bow, adding a button, then attached with foam adhesive to the kraft paer. Tucked a banner behind, attached it all to the card, and added some pearls on the side.

So much fun playing! I feel like I haven't been crafty in forever - so it was fun to sit down and play again! See you again soon!

PTI Anniversary Challenge - Birthday

Hello! Here is card number 2 for the Papertrey Ink Anniversary Challenge Day 2 for the Printable Freebies:

The challenge for this was to use one of the free downloadable images to create a card:

For this card, I happened to have that floral paper on my table - and when I saw them close together - I just HAD to make a card with them!

I used several different Lifestyle Crafts dies, and a couple of Spellbinder's Dies to create the layers. I also used my PTI Woodgrain Impression Plate on the background, and inked with Tim Holtz distress ink.

Again - lots of foam adhesive between the layers - and some jute twine to finish it off!

PTI Anniversary Challenge - Love

Hello! Here is the first of 3 cards made for the Papertrey Ink Anniversary Challenge Day 2:

The challenge for this was to use one of the free downloadable images to create a card:

With Valentine's coming up - this one was just too perfect to resist! LOVE the little arrow!

I used some papers from a Pebbles 6x6 paper pad. 

Added a bit of washi tape and some jute twine. 

Cut the image out with a Spellbinder's Circle die, and added a bit of bling to finish it off!

The card base is PTI Aqua Mist cardstock - LOVE it!

PTI Inspired by Card

Hello! I have been feeling a little sick the past couple of days - and was so happy last night to finally be feeling better! So I sat down and worked on a few cards for the Papertrey Ink Anniversary Celebration. The first one I made was one inspired by a favorite from the Design Team. Here is what I made:

It was inspired by the bottom left hand card in this photo:

I went with a blue color scheme - but something about the monochromatic colors, the stitching, the distressing - it was just such a lovely card that I had to re-create it!

I used lots of foam adhesive between layers for dimension.

I tied jute twine around instead of tulle, and stamped a sentiment on the bottom. 

After stitching and arranging all my layers, I attached that front panel to my card base with foam adhesive as well.
