Good morning! It feels like this little ol' blog has been rather quiet lately! Hubby was out of town in Europe on a business trip last week, and life just decided to get crazy all at once, so I had very little time to craft, and was just barely able to get the bare minimum done.
The last day or two I did get a couple cards done and photographed, so fortunately I have something to share again. I made two Mother's Day cards - this is the first and more elegant one using lots of new, recent, and older releases from Simon Says Stamp! :)
I played around a little with a different technique on these flowers and it was SOOO fun! On white cardstock, I stamped and clear heat embossed nearly every image from a fairly recent release called More Spring Flowers. I also die cut them using the coordinating dies. (At the time I'm writing this, the dies are currently out of stock on their own, but the set with both stamps and dies is in stock - you can find it HERE). Next, I used distress inks and blended them over the images to give them an ombre effect - so fun and easy with the distress inks. LOVE how all the details on the flowers suddenly POP when you add the color!
Next, I stamped a release from late last yer, Circle Doodle Background in Barely Beige Ink on a kraft card base for a bit of subtle texture and interest without taking away from the focal point of the florals on the card. I die cut a white banner using Stitched Banners trimming off the top so that I was happy with the length. The stitching goes perfectly with the stitched pattern on the flowers! Next, I layered up the florals until I was happy with the arrangement, picked it up with a bit of Press and Seal, flipped it over and applied adhesive, then adhered to my banner. I stamped a sentiment from the very recently released So Deer Stamp Set, added a bit of jute twine, and adhered the banner with foam adhesive to my cardbase. A few clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh finish it off!
