Technique Tuesday and MISTI Blog Hop

Good morning! Excited to day to be hopping along with both the Technique Tuesday AND My Sweet Petunia Design Team. This hop is full of inspiration and fun, as well as prizes! You should have arrived here from Ceal Pritchett - entire blog hop list is at the bottom if you get lost along the way!

I'm showing a fun technique today for using your MISTI along to help with using colored pencils on your images!



First off, line up your image on your paper that you are going to be using, and stamp with the MISTI. Careful - don't remove your stamp from the image yet!

Next up, color in the image with your colored pencils. Cute, right? However, do you notice how the colored pencil covers up some of the detail of the stamped image? Makes it less clear and more muted?

This is where the magic of the MISTI comes back in! Take that image back to your MISTI and restamp over the top! See the difference? Now, if you stamp and don't heat emboss, make sure and give your ink time to dry. I used a dye ink, and it did sit on top of the waxy pencil for a bit, but giving it a bit of time to dry it stayed on just fine.

For my card I used the cute little Sassy Coffee stamp set from Technique Tuesday. I also used Circles Crafting Dies and Little Labels to heat emboss my sentiment.

Some fun pattern paper from Carta Bella, a doily and some twine for texture, and a bit of black matting around the outside of the floral pattern paper finish this card off!

Here is a previous example of another card I made using this technique. For this one I stamped in a soft colored ink, colored with my pencils, then heat embossed in white over the top. I also LOVE this effect! You can find the details of this card HERE if you are interested in checking it out! :)

You Are My Sunshine - Simon Says Stamp Sending Sunshine Release

Good morning! I'm back with another card using the BRAND NEW Sending Sunshine Release from Simon Says Stamp! For my card today, I combined a couple of the new dies with a sentiment from a previously released stamp set for a bright and happy sending sunshine card!

For my background, I again used the Marilyn Full Card Wafer Die, only I intentionally left some pieces randomly inlaid in the die when adhering it to my Smoke Cardbase. 

I then die cut the new You Are My Sunshine Wafer die 3 times from different shades of yellows and oranges. I adhered them together slightly offset, building from darkest color at the back to lightest in the front, then adhered it to my card.

Finished off by adding my heat embossed sentiment from the previously released Messages for Everyday, and a few Pretty Pink Posh Lemon Drop Jewels!

Simon Says Stamp Sending Sunshine Release Hop Day 1 - Favorite Person

Today I have this little duo of cards to share using some of the gorgeous stamps and dies from the New Release - the Marilyn Full Card Wafer Die, Spring Flower Burst Stamp Set, and Playful Messages Stamp Set!

I first stamped and heat embossed the large beautiful floral from Spring Flower Burst Stamp Set in clear on white cardstock, then blended distress ink in two different colors for each card. This first card, I used Ripe Persimmon and Evergreen Bough. I die cut the new Marilyn Full Card Wafer Die using a Memory Box Metal Adapter Plate (so helpful for cutting out intricate dies like this one), and heat embossed a sentiment from one of my personal favorites from this release, Playful Messages Stamp Set, on a strip of Smoke Cardstock.

My color combo for the ink blending on this second card is Wilted Violet and Peeled Paint. To assemble the cards, I first adhered the floral image from Spring Flower Burst Stamp Set to the die cut Marilyn Full Card Wafer Die, then applied adhesive just behind that to the back of both of them, and adhered to a white cardbase, leaving everything else hanging free. I love the free flowing and whimsical feel this gives! Over the top of that I adhered my sentiment strips with foam adhesive, and finished off with a few Pearl White Jewels from Pretty Pink Posh. (Side note: I used a new favorite tool to place the jewels - the Crystal Kantana Tool - my new best friend for adhering jewels, sequins, and other tiny embellishments!)

Grande Birthday Wishes - Reverse Confetti Stock Your Stash Challenge

Good morning! Stopping by with a card this morning for this month's Reverse Confetti Stock Your Stash Challenge this is replacing the SFYTT Challenge each month. So instead of a sketch, there will be a theme for each month!

This month's theme is BIRTHDAY!

For my card today, I went a little crazy with the Reverse Confetti pattern paper - layering paper from FOUR different 6x6 Pattern Paper Pads and combining various Confetti Cuts, and also doing some paper piecing on my stamped image.

I used paper from Pattern Play, Free Spirit, Under the Umbrella, and Every Little Bit. I also used a couple different Confetti Cuts dies that work well together - Circles 'n Scallops and Circle Band - they layer together so well! The image and sentiment are from the adorable Coffee and You stamp set and Coordinating Dies. I added some details with a Copic marker and white gel pen, and finished off with some Nuvo drops scattered around.

Snarky Dog Cards - Simon Says Stamp Sending Sunshine Release

Good evening! Super excited tonight to begin sharing the first of my cards made with the BRAND NEW Sending Sunshine Release from Simon Says Stamp! This release is full of incredible stamps, dies, and more - but the first thing I saw when I opened my package was the HILARIOUS Playful Messages stamp set - and I couldn't wait to play with them! These funny sentiments needed the perfect images, and I just knew I had to pull out my Tim Holtz Crazy Dogs Stamp set for the perfect pairing! Here are the 5 cards I made: 

These are also completely one layer cards! I pretty much just took my time coloring the images once I paired up the right dog with the right sentiments. I used my MISTI to stamp so that I could double stamp for a nice dark and crisp image. Once all the coloring was finished, I added not ONE, but TWO coats of Tonic Crystal Glaze to the eyes, nose, tags, and occasional tooth or tongue - letting the first layer dry several hours before applying the second layer. This added just a little something special to each card while still keeping them one layer! Here is a closer look at each one showing that detail on them:

Final Three Wrap Up - Simon Says Stamp June Card Kit

Good morning! Here this morning to share a few more cards with the new Simon Says Stamp Card Kit for June - Fly Me Away! If you've seen the gorgeous Beautiful Flowers Stamp set included in the kit, you already know it is amazing! However, there are lots of other lovely goodies included in the kit, and today I have 3 cards that use smaller sentiments with that amazing stamp set, but focus a bit more on some of the other supplies in the kit.

This first card - would you believe that is just pattern paper? The paper in the kit is Modascrap Fly and Scrap 6x6 paper - a new company to me. Breathtaking, isn't it?!?!?

For this card, I simply die cut a panel from one of the included pattern papers in the kit using my Wonky Rectangles Dies, matted with a thin strip of white, mounted on a Smoke cardbase, and stamped simple sentiment on it. Does it get any easier than that?

This next card also uses another lovely piece of pattern paper, but with a few more embellishments.

For this one, I added some Nuvo Glitter Drops to accent the feather images, still die cutting with the same Wonky Rectangles die, matting with white cardstock, and then mounting on a cardbase, this time made from Cornflower cardstock.

I added a sentiment from the stamp set, heat embossed on a strip of Smoke cardstock, then adhered with foam adhesive. Finished off with a few Pretty Pink Posh Pearl White jewels.

And finally - this card was SOOO hard to photograph!

Nearly impossible to capture the texture, but I used the Tim Holtz Sizzix Botanical 3D Texture Fades Embossing Folder in the kit. Wow...this embossing folder is remarkable! Such a deep and elegant impression - I was amazed! I used it on some Cream cardstock, added a few gold splatters with my Starry Colors Palette, then matted with white before mounting on the new Peacock cardstock (which by the way, is also gorgeous!)

I added the same sentiment as the last card, only set the strip at an angle and backed with a mat of the beautiful Tonic Gold Pearl Mirror Satin cardstock in the kit. If you love gold foil, this paper is for you! I tucked a bit of gold thread behind there before adhering it with foam adhesive.
