Peachy Keen Card Challenge - Friendship!!!

It's that time of the week for a new challenge over at Peachy Keen!!! This week, we want you card makers to show us your skills!!! Make a card with a friendship theme, and make sure to use those Peachy Keen stamps for a chance to win Top Peach for the week and bring home a peachy prize!!! Here is my card for this weeks challenge:

I was so excited when I saw the challenge for this week - because cards are what I like to do best! So I pulled out my poor old dusty Cricut again (poor thing has been neglected lately!) and my Country Life cartridge, along with my Peachy faces, and whipped out these cute cherries! 

I added some cute faces using Peachy Keen's In Stitches Face Assortment. 

I embossed the kraft paper with my Cuttlebug, leaving the top part smooth to place my sentiment. The sentiment is a rub on from October Afternoon (I think it is an older set) that I got in one of their Santa Sacks last December. I added some sheer green polka dot ribbon across the seam between the embossed and not embossed paper, then wrapped a little Papertrey Ink button twine around and tied a bow with a Papertrey Ink button. 

I used a Copic marker to make the blushing cheeks on the cherries, then used my white gel pen to add freckles and color in the mouths and noses. 

I also inked the edges of everything with Tim Holtz distress ink in Antique Linen, and used Walnut Stain for the card base to make it a little darker.

Finished off with a thin black mat, some faux stitching on the cherries, and pop-dotted the cherries from the background!

Cricut 360 - Challenge #12 - Native American Day

Can you believe that it is halfway through September already? Hard to believe it - although it is truly starting to actually feel like it! So, since September 19th is Native American Day, the challenge this week at Cricut 360 is to make something with this in mind. One of the first things that came to mind for me, was Indian Corn - we always used to grow it when I was a kid and use it to decorate our house in the Fall. So...this is what I came up with to mimic it:

I used the corn cut from Country Life, only instead of cutting out all the layers, I layered it with a bunch of colored dew drops using zip dry glue! Love the effect it had! The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Co. and I added some machine stitching around the card to finish it off.

Oh yes, and the corn is pop-dotted off the background as well - just for fun!

Inspiration Challenge - Built a House!

First off, I want to say that this card is very special to me! This past month, I sold enough cards to build my first house for a widow in Burundi!!! Yep...$600...and a women and her children if she has any, have a roof over their heads, dignity restored, and living proof that because of the Lord, a miracle can happen! So, I wanted to make a card to enclose the check I will be mailing to Sister Connection.

Over on the Cricut Circle blog, they are having a challenge to use something from the Circle Magazine as inspiration, and make it your own. As soon as I saw all the little house projects, I knew JUST what I wanted to do - especially since I had this card to make! So...this card in particular jumped out at me. Here is the photo of the card from the Circle Magazine:

And here is my take on it! I used a LOT of cartridges on this one! The house came from Kate's ABC's, and the hills were from Country Life. The grass is cut from Zooballoo. The sunshine is from Give a Hoot, and is actually one of the flower icons, but it looked like it would make such a cute sun that I had to give it a try! The clouds are cut from Pooh and Friends. I did some more machine stitching, a bit of doodling, and finished off with a stamped sentiment from my stash.

 



Mom's are the best flowers picked!

Another Mother's Day card! This is also my first try at using an Action Wobble! And...it is so much fun, that I know I will be using them LOTS more!!! I am entering it in Peachy Keen's Let's Face It Friday "Flower Power" Challenge - to use handmade flowers, and a Peachy Keen Face. Also entering it in Scrapbookaholic by Abby's Challenge #2 - anything spring!

For this card I cut the pitcher and shadow from Country Life cartridge. I cut an extra set of the flowers, and curled the edges a little and attached them with brads to the first one for a little dimension. Inked the edges of everything, added a sentiment from My Creative Time stamps, as well as a Peachy Face on the pitcher, and finished with a little ribbon and bow on the side. I don't have a video, but the last two pictures show a little bit what the action wobble does...just in case you're curious!!!



2 fun cards!

Lucked out last night, ended up with 2 cards I really like! I wonder if it had something to do with actually accomplishing something useful before I sat down to play! (Cleaned my bedroom and bathroom after my two daughters went to bed - they were in desperate need of it!) Anyway, both of these came out really fun!

The first one I used a cut from the Country Life cartridge, and added a face on the watering can from the new Peachy Keen Snow Cuties face assortment (about time I finally used those!). Then I added glossy accents on the watering can and pot, and stickles on the water, flower, and stem. The lacy bottom piece is using a Martha Stewart edge punch, added some buttons and ribbon on tip, a stamped sentiment, and lots of faux stitching with my white gel pen.

On this second one, I used one of the "sticker" cuts from Just Because Cards. Then ran the background through the Cuttlebug. The sentiment came from Create a Critter. Added Glossy Accents (yep, I love the stuff!) over the blue part on the "sticker", and over the word "howdy". Finished off with a little faux stitching with my black Sakura Glaze pen.

Glossy Accents!!!

Good morning! I just discovered something new - Glossy Accents! It is a "clear dimensional embellishment" by Ranger ink - and I LOVE it!!! I have already gone through 1/4 of the bottle, and have had it less than a week. It is so much fun! I used it on both of these cards, although the pics don't really show it that well.

The first card it is used on the lettering and the seeds on the strawberry. The strawberry and the sentiment cuts both came from the Country Life cartridge. Just a bit of ribbon, and a little doodling - simple!

This second card actually didn't use the Cricut at all! I wanted to, I just couldn't find a cut with piano keys, so I decided to make them myself. Just cut strips of paper in black and white, and added LOTS of Glossy Accents. Took all day to dry!  Used one of my new stamps from Pink by Design, a couple of eyelets, and some ribbon to attach it.

My new Pink By Design stamps!!!

I received my first set of stamps from Pink By Design on Monday (I am in love with them!!!), so yesterday was my first chance to put them to good use. I made 5 cards yesterday (it was a good day!), but I haven't taken pictures of the last 3 yet, so I will have to get to that a little later. But here are the first two:

The first one has the cute dog from Paisley cartridge on it. The background is also from Paisley, one of the buttons - I stretched and resized it on my Gypsy, then added an oval behind to fit it. A little bling, and some doodling around the edges, then pop dotted the dog and the sentiment. I LOVE the colors on this one - so bright and fun!

The second one uses the antique sewing machine cut from Country Life. Cuttlebug on the circle and the background for the sentiment, and a little doodling around the edges again.
