Many Thank Yous for Butterfly Reflections Ink

Good morning! I'm posting this morning over at the Butterfly Reflections Ink Blog to share some thank you cards I made with some new goodies I just received in the mail from Butterfly Reflections Ink

It's also just a few days until the brand new Design Team gals take over - so I wanted to say a BIG thank you to Vanessa as well - I have so enjoyed my time on the team, and am forever a loyal Butterfly Reflections customer! I love the constant update of new stuff in the shop, the quick shipping, the points/rewards system, and the amazing personal touches - the little handwritten note on the packing slip always makes me smile! If you haven't shopped with Butterfly Reflections before, you definitely want to give it a try - I promise you will be glad you did! :-)

So...on to my cards! I had a request for some thank you cards recently, so I thought I would pick a simple layout that would work with them all, and just change each one slightly to make them unique. They needed to be somewhat neutral, so not too feminine - which always makes it a bit more of a challenge! I was also able to use a strip of pattern paper on the side that was the exact dimensions I trim off when make an A2 card front - wonderful way to use up those scraps! The tiny strip of black helps just set it off from the rest of the card. Here are the photos - I'll add the supplies at the bottom:

All my pattern paper came from this darling new Crate Paper 6x6 pad - called Wonder:

I used two Wplus9 stamp sets for the sentiments - first up the brand new Grateful Greetings:

And secondly, Hand Lettered Thanks:

Finally, to get that nice, crisp black print on the sentiments, I used this ink pad, Versafine Onyx Black (absolutely LOVE this ink...just don't use it with Copic markers!):
That's it for me today! Again - a big huge thank you to Vanessa! And everyone else who has left comments over these past few months - thank you to you as well! Have a wonderful day!

Everything is Awesome

Good morning everyone! I'm posting this morning on the Butterfly Reflections Blog with a fun movie inspired card! Yep...we finally watched the Lego Movie, and can you guess what song is now stuck in our heads? Uh-huh! I used some fun Altenew stamp sets to make a card using the title of the song:

I used Altenew's Sketchy Cities (not currently in stock at Butterfly Reflections - although Sketchy Landmarks is a similar style of artwork) - then built a sentiment using Super Script Stamp set, stamped with Versamark Ink, then heat embossed on watercolor paper with Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder. I discovered that the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers work wonderfully for the smooshing technique! I scribbled in lines on a piece of acetate, misted with water, then smooshed over my embossed images. I actually used 4 different colors - a blue, orange, yellow, and then a bit of soft gray at the top. I used some pattern paper from Lawn Fawn's Beachside 6x6 Paper Pad, and added a few Studio Calico Wood Veneer Stars to finish off.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!!!

Absolutely Unforgettable - Butterfly Reflections

Good morning everyone! I'm posting again this morning on the Butterfly Reflections Blog. First of all, I wanted to take a few minutes in honor of Memorial Day today, to say thank you to all those who have fought and died - and served and sacrificed so much for this country. I for one am so grateful for all you have done!

And speaking of remembering...please, someone tell me that I'm not the only one to forget birthdays? Sometimes they slide right past - and I feel so bad, because I absolutely LOVE the person who's birthday I forgot, but somehow still managed to miss it in the busyness of life! So...obviously, I LOVE this sweet sentiment from Wplus9's Unforgettable Stamp Set - especially when paired with the adorable elephants in the same set!

I just received a brand new set of the Zig Clean Color Brush Tip pens, and couldn't WAIT to try them out! Keep an eye on the Butterfly Reflections Ink Store, because I think there is a good chance Vanessa might begin carrying some of them if you want to try them out - I'm officially in LOVE with them! Made watercoloring these cuties so easy! And MFT's Black Licorice Hybrid Ink Pad is perfect for watercoloring - dark and crips and waterproof, and I love that it also works perfectly with Copics. Very versatile! I colored two of them more traditionally gray, but I wanted to make the one a little more "unforgettable" (get it?) I fussy cut them (minus the tails) out of my watercolor paper, then paper pieced then on a panel die cut with Wplus9's Sunshine Layers Die from some pattern paper from Lawn Fawn's Let's Polka Mon Amie 6x6 paper pad. Finished off with a few sequins - just for a bit of fun sparkle!

And in case you missed it, today is the last day to take advantage of the amazing sale going on as well - make sure and go check out the remaining inventory - there are still some great deals to be found!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!!!

Birthday Bear with Butterfly Reflections Ink

Good morning everyone! I'm posting again this morning on the Butterfly Reflections Blog. We have a fairly large family, so I'm pretty sure the type of card I use more than anything else is birthday cards. It is probably the one I am requested to make more often than anything as well! The masculine ones are always particularly difficult for me, so I'm quite happy when I find a design that will work for that! I love some of the Altenew images for that reason - especially the ones from Geometric Menagerie that I used for this card:

I colored it with Copic markers, then fussy cut it out. I stamped a sentiment from Altenew's Birthday Greetings (LOVE this for birthday sentiments!) and heat embossed on vellum with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder (one of my favorites, because it isn't exactly gold, but not exactly silver - kind of in the middle!), then die cut it and a woodgrain panel with Lawn Fawn's Stitched Journaling Card Die. I adhered them together, and attached the bear with foam adhesive, tucking a couple of his feet behind the vellum - just to add to the dimension! All my pattern paper is from Crate Paper's 6x6 Journey paper pad, and I added a torn panel of kraft paper with some machine stitching behind there as well. The finishing touch is a few Studio Calico Wood Veneer stars - more masculine than sequins, don't you think? ;)

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!!!

Thank You Bird

Good morning everyone! I'm posting again this morning on the Butterfly Reflections Blog. I don't think it is possible to have too many thank you cards around - seems like there are plenty of opportunities to send those out, and they are so fun to make too! I played a little more with some Wplus9 Designs Goodies from Butterfly Reflections Ink to make this card:

I started off by die cutting the scallop layer die from Sunshine Layers Die, then stamping the sweet little bird from A New Day and coloring it with Copics. I stamped a sentiment from Strictly Sentiments 4, then added some inking to blend in the colors. Mounted on a kraft card base, then added a bow of gold thread with a Maggie Holmes Flea Market Resin Flower decoration to finish it off!

Thanks for stopping by today!!!

Gold Rose Mother's Day Card

Good morning everyone! I'm posting again this morning on the Butterfly Reflections Blog sharing a card for a fast approaching holiday - Mother's Day! If you are like me, it might have slipped your mind, but will be here in only a few short days! We will actually be in Hawaii on Mother's Day (so I will be getting well pampered!) - but we will make sure and celebrate with both our mom's before we leave! So I pulled out some of my many lovely goodies from Butterfly Reflections Ink, and went to work!

I started off with some pattern paper from Pebble's Cottage Living 6x6 paper pad, and then die cut the front panel using Wplus9 Sunshine Layers Die. I used a little stencil I had cut from cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo quite some time ago and never used, to add a few random hearts with White Embossing Paste in a random area, then die cut a rose and a couple leaves using Paper Smooches Rose Die from gold foil paper. Finally, I stamped my sentiment from Wplus9's Strictly Sentiments 4 in VersaMark Ink, then heat embossed it with Gold Embossing Powder.

This is another nice one layer card that would be super easy to mail, but still has lots of nice dimension still! Thanks for stopping by today - and Happy Mother's Day (a couple days early!) to all!

Butterfly Reflections Ink NSD Mood Board Challenge

Good afternoon! Hope you are enjoying your National Scrapbook Day today - and hopefully playing along with some of the many fun challenges! I thought I would make something to inspire you to play along with the fun challenge over at Butterfly Reflections Ink - there is a $20 gift certificate up for grabs as well! Here is what I made:

This is the Mood Board for the Challenge - isn't it AMAZING?!?!? These colors just scream spring and happiness to me:

I used Wplus9's Sunshine Layer Dies to cut the front panel, then did some ink smooshing with the colors from the inspiration photo for a watercolor style background. Next, I die cut the word bubbles from Wplus9's Hey Hi Hello Die set. I attached the word bubbles with foam adhesive, then added a sprinkling of assorted enamel dots. I adhered that to some pattern paper from an Amy Tangerine 6x6 Rise and Shine Paper pad to finish it off!

In addition to the challenges and prizes, there is also a fabulous sale today - now is the perfect time to go do some shopping at Butterfly Reflections Ink!

Have a wonderful day!!!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Good morning everyone! I'm posting again this morning on the Butterfly Reflections Blog sharing this card I made for my dad's birthday last week - he turned 70! Definitely a big one that needed to be celebrated! We were able to pull off a surprise party for him after church Sunday before last - which was amazing! We were so happy to have been able to surprise him that way!

Since this was a guy card, I wanted to make sure it was simple and masculine - which is always a challenge for me! I used some pattern paper from Crate Paper's 6x6 Journey Paper Pad - fussy cutting those chevrons out to add some fun color. I built the sentiment using Altenew's versatile Birthday Greetings Stamp set - I make more birthday cards than anything else, and I love having lots of fun options to build the sentiment I want! I used another Altenew set to stamp the "dad" to personalize it, and you might notice that I stamped out the entire birthday song by masking my sentiments a little bit! Finished off by stamping the balloons from the same set and Hero Arts Ombre ink pad (SOOOO fun for balloons - I'm in LOVE with it for that I think!), and some confetti using a tiny dot stamp from that set.

This is a completely one layer card - would be perfect for mailing to someone special as well! Thanks for stopping by this morning! If you haven't checked out the Butterfly Reflections Ink Store before - I hope you'll go take a peek! Tell Vanessa I sent you over! :)

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday Bird

Good morning everyone! I'm posting again this morning on the Butterfly Reflections Blog to share a lovely spring card!

I fell in LOVE with this sweet image from Wplus9 called A New Day as soon as I saw it - and couldn't wait to get it inky when my order arrived from Butterfly Reflections (in an amazing 2 days I might add!). For this card, I stamped both the bird, and my sentiment from Altenew's Birthday Greeting stamp set in Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder on some vellum. I used some pattern paper from Crate Paper's Craft Market 6x6 paper pad, tore the edges of one piece, and machine stitched the vellum onto it, then added a line of machine stitching on the background piece as well. I trimmed some pieces off a doily and tucked it underneath on the top and bottom and added a bit of jute twine tied in a bow. Finished off with some White Enamel Dots.

Thanks for stopping by this morning! If you haven't checked out the Butterfly Reflections Ink Store before - I hope you'll go take a peek! Tell Vanessa I sent you over! :)

Have a wonderful day!

Avocado Arts - Pear-fect Cards

Good morning! I'm up on the Avocado Arts blog this morning to share some projects with the new stamp set for April called Pear-fect! As always - there is such a fun mix of images and sentiments! Something for everyone!

I just had to start with that sweet pear that this set got it's name from!

I layered together some tags I cut with Lil' Inker's Anytime Tag Die Set using some Heidi Swapp Favorite Things pattern paper, a bit of vellum and a doily, and the sentiment heat embossed on vellum. The pears I stamped on the green pattern paper - then inked a bit with distress ink for some dimension - also coloring in the stem and leaf with Copics. Did some machine stitching to attach the sentiment and the tag layers together, attached the two pears with foam adhesive, and stapled on some May Arts ribbon at the top. SOOO fun!

Next up, as Mother's Day is fast approaching, I thought I would make a simple Mother's Day Card:

I pulled out my Lil' Inker's Quilted Swirl Stitched Pattern Die for the base of the card - I thought it went perfectly with my sentiment from this set! I heat embossed it in vellum (love how that gives the stitched letters a bit more texture, just like real stitching!), then layered it on some Lawn Fawn Let's Polka Mon Amie 6x6 Paper. Punched a couple holes and tied it together with jute twine, then attached with foam adhesive to my card base. Simple, but I love how it all pulls together!

And finally - that little lamp with the perfect sentiment! Had to make a quick shaker card:

For this one, tore a square of watercolor paper, added a slightly yellow background, and stamped my lamp over the top. Added a yellow rectangle shaker element cut with a MFT die, and filled it with some tiny little stars in yellow and silver from Butterfly Reflections Ink, then heat embossed my sentiment on a hand trimmed black banner. The second picture shows the watercolor and the little stars a bit better. My pattern paper is from Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine 6x6 Paper pad.

I am also linking up (particularly the first card) with Virginia's View Challenge - Layers and Dimension:

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!

Coral, Mint, and Gold Birthday Wishes

Good morning everyone! I was fortunate to be invited to join the Butterfly Reflections Design Team and I've got my first post up on the Butterfly Reflections Blog this morning.

I'm super excited to be joining the Butterfly Reflections Design team for the next 3 months! Vanessa has done an amazing job of building her store - as hard as it is to keep up in this industry, she works so hard to keep stocked with fresh, new, and trendy products. I have loved being able to purchase not only stamps and dies from some of my favorite companies, but also other basic supplies like paper, adhesive, and embellishments - all in one place, and with shipping combined on one order!

Anyway - enough talking! Time to get on with the project I have to share with you today! I decided to go with one of my favorite color combos - coral, mint, and gold (swoon!) - perfect for using the new 6x6 On Trend paper pad from My Mind's Eye.

I also used some Paper Smooches dies and stamps - the beautiful Rose Die, and coordinating stamp set. I have been seeing this everywhere, and was super excited to have a chance to use it finally! I die cut it simply in white, left the pieces inside, misted with gold mist, then applied Glossy Accents over the outline for a bit of interest and shine. I used the handy Embossing Powder Applicator (wonderful for keeping the embossing powder right where I want it and nowhere else!) then stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. Finished off with a bit of gold glitter washi tape, a few Enamel Dots, and a bit of jute twine.
