Foxy You and Me

A little more catch-up this morning! This is actually a card I made for a magazine submission call that was never picked up. So - I get to share it here today! This one is fun in the sense that I didn't use any stamps on it - just elements from a Project Life kit and some pattern paper!

I have so loved the fox trend, and this is one of my favorite cards from a Project Life kit I have been using for a while. I pretty much used two of the same cards for this, and fussy cut out the foxes to adhere with foam adhesive. I trimmed the sentiment underneath into a banner shape and adhered that with foam adhesive as well. Added some Glossy Accents to the eyes and the bow tie, and some Stickles to the hair bow. Trimmed some MME pattern paper that matched well, cutting a zig zag border on one side with a My Craft Spot die, then added some jute twine tied in a bow. Lots of foam adhesive and dimension on this card for sure!

From my head tomatoes...

Good morning! So ridiculously excited about today's card! I got this new set from WPlus9 while we were moving, and still hadn't had a chance to ink it up - it is just SOOO stinkin' cute!!!

I am also playing a long with a few challenges - first up, Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Something New:

And finally, Simon Says Monday Challenge - Make New Friends but Keep the Old (New stamp set, but old and very beloved wood grain pattern paper pad!):

This card actually came together very quickly! I stamped my layers and sentiments using some MFT inks, die cut the bottom and top edge with a My Craft Spot die, then added some Antique Linen distress ink to the edges to soften and give it a bit more of a country feel. Added some jute twine, my MME woodgrain pattern paper, and finished off with a touch of Wink of Stella on the tomatoes.

Christmas Card Wrap Up - and WCMD Giveaway Winner!

Good morning! I had great intentions of getting all of these posted before or on Christmas, but it just didn't happen! So...although it is a bit late, I just combined them all into one post to get them finished before New Years at least! I am also announcing the winner of the WCMD giveaway at the bottom of this post - so make sure and scroll to the bottom! :-)

This first card is actually one that I made with a set I got published in the December issue. The call was to make 4 coordinating cards with one pattern paper pad and one stamp set. Somehow I lost track and made 5, so I picked my favorites and submitted them, and this was the leftover one! Using Neat and Tangled's Simple Christmas and an October Afternoon Paper pad, as well as a bit of fussy cutting, heat embossing, jute twine, and circle punching:

The next card was also a submission card from a while back that was never picked up - for this one I used a Unity Stamp image called Santas, Stockings, and Candy Canes, etc... {Wit and Wisdom}, stamped and heat embossed on vellum, then used some machine stitching to attach it to my pattern paper.

And lastly, a couple using the Unity October 2013 Kit of the Month - Oh Christmas Tree (this one pulls up as the most popular KOTM when you sort by most popular, and I can easily imagine why!)

For this first one, I also used my Bow die from My Craft Spot to cut a felt bow - LOVE how it cuts the felt! Added the image and sentiment heat embossed, some Glitz Designs pattern paper with torn edges, and a couple of jingle bells as well!

And finally, the same image with a different sentiment on green chalkboard paper - chalkboard technique! A little pattern paper from October Afternoon, and some glitter washi with jute twine to finish off!

And...here is the winner! Sorry I'm so late!!!

YAY! Congratulations Kathy! Please send me an email at housesbuiltofcards@gmail.com when you get a chance so I can get that package mailed out to you soon (once I finish unpacking a few more goodies to add!)

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you had a very Merry Christmas!!!

Distress Bleed Technique Card

Good morning! I'm back to share a previously made card that I hadn't shared yet:

I also wanted to link this up with Virginia's View Challenge - All Things Distressed before it was too late!

I also thought I would link this up with this weeks Simon Says Monday Challenge - Anything Goes:

For this card, I used a technique that I saw from Jennifer McGuire's blog (her post is HERE) - basically I inked up my image from Unity Stamp Co called Rejoice for our SILENT NIGHT {wit and wisdom} with a few different colors of distress ink, stamped it on watercolor paper, then stamped again with Versamark black ink. Then I misted it with water, and allowed it to dry, bleeding wherever the colors decided to land. I added a bow cut with a My Craft Spot die from some handmade paper, a heart cut with a Paper Smooches die, some bling, pattern paper, and a black mat.

MCS Challenge - World Shape Christmas Card

Good morning! Excited to share my card with you today for the new challenge at My Craft Spot: Christmas Shape Cards!

I used a file from the Silhouette Store and my Cameo machine to cut out this shape - making it 5 1/2 inches across - nice and big!

I glued the layers together, and added a soft layer of inking with white pigment ink around the edges to help it pop a little.

Next, I die cut a banner using Straight Ribbon Banner Metal Dies, and heat embossing my sentiment on there from Christmas Banner sentiments, then attached it with foam adhesive for a little pop of dimension.

10th Birthday Shaker Card for my Daughter

Good morning! I'm up on the My Craft Spot Blog finally sharing a very special birthday card - this is the card I made for my youngest daughter's 10th birthday!!! Her birthday was in September, and she ended up getting it late, since we had to make a last minute trip home for a family emergency just a little over a week before her birthday. So...I wanted to make it super special for her!

I used one of my favorite birthday sentiment sets for this card - Birthday Wishes:

I also used Fancy Edges Metal Dies for the sweet scallop border:

I used some fun October Afternoon papers to build my card - made the inside of the shaker perfect! I filled it with lots of sequins, then added a few extra on the outside for embellishments.

MCS - Christmas Release - Day 4

Good morning! Welcome to day 4 of the new release My Craft Spot - and this time it's all about Christmas! So many fun sets - today we are sharing sneak peeks of "Christmas Chalkboard Sentiments" stamp set.

Aside from using the chalkboard sets for the obvious chalkboard technique, I really love heat embossing them in white on vellum - and I love the color combo of white, kraft, and red for Christmas!

I started off by stamping each of the four tiny snowflakes included in this set several times on a panel of kraft cardstock, then heat embossed my sentiment on vellum and attached them with some machine stitching. I used some fun red polka dot paper from MME for my background, and cut some little doilies using Tiny Doilies 2 Metal Dies to tuck behind the front panel. Finished off with some snowflakes from the Snow Flurries sequin pack

MCS - Christmas Release - Day 3

Good morning! Welcome to day 3 of the new release My Craft Spot - and this time it's all about Christmas! So many fun sets - today we are sharing sneak peeks of "Tiny Tags - Christmas."

The first thing to catch my eye was this fun little star with the word "merry" under it - a perfect little rustic and fun image! Instead of stamping it on tags, I stamped it on a row of tickets cut with Tickets Metal Dies, then colored them in with my Copic markers.

I added some fun pattern paper from October Afternoon, a zig zag border cut with Fancy Edges 2 Metal Dies, and a wrap of some lovely May Arts ribbon that I think looks a little like burlap, but much softer with a more linen texture. Finished off with some Cherry Red Traditional Baker's Twine and a little red button.

MCS - Christmas Release - Day 1

Good morning! It's time for another release from My Craft Spot - and this time it's all about Christmas! So many fun sets - starting with today's called "Naughty or Nice."

I used today's to make these fun little treats for Christmas - they are actually super yummy, although rather rich, more like a candy! You can find the recipe for my "coal" HERE - basically a recipe for Rice Crispy Treats, but substitute crushed Oreos for the Rice Crispy Cereal!

I actually packaged them up in clear bags that I have for holding my cards - they worked perfectly! I stamped each sentiment from this set on frames that I cut using Ornate Labels Metal Dies. I added some distress ink to the edges to soften them a little.

Next, I wrapped up my packages with some Cranberry Crinkle Ribbon, and added some Natural Jute String as well.

My Craft Spot Fall Release Hop and Giveaway!

Good morning! It's finally time for the full reveal of the new fall release at My Craft Spot! So many fun and yummy fall items! You should have arrived here from Saundra - if not, feel free to head over to My Craft Spot and start at the beginning so you don't miss anything - there is a giveaway at each stop too!

I have been having so much fun lately making shaker cards, that I thought it would be fun to put one together today with the new release goodies:

Here are all the products from the new release that I used on my card (you can find the new release in its entirety HERE):

I used the stitched lines from the new Fancy Edges die set on my card base - LOVE the detail it adds! I used my Lil' Inker's Stitched Oval dies to make the center of my shaker portion, then stamped my sentiment fromt he new Fall Leaves stamp set directly on the acetate with Staz-on Ink. I cut the leaves from the Fall Borders die using PTI cardstock, and used that to fill my shaker card. Rounded the top corners, then finished off with a bit of Natural Jute Twine wrapped around and tied in a bow.

Kimberly has provided each of us with a $10 gift certificate to give away - so make sure and leave a comment for your chance to win!

MCS Stamp Release Party Day 5

Good morning! Welcome to the 5th and final day of a week of sneak peeks for the new release at My Craft Spot!!! Today I played with the super fun new Wheelbarrow Die set, as well as the Fall Border metal die set, and Fall Leaves Stamp set:

I built my scene on a panel cut with Scrapping Life metal dies - cut each piece out - the swirls I cut out of felt for extra texture! I layered everything on with foam adhesive to assemble it. Pattern paper is from Basic Grey, and I used Fancy Edges Metal Dies 2 to cut that fun pinked border. Added some Natural Jute String wrapped and tied to finish it all off!

Now the fun part! Kimberly is giving away something fun each day this week for comments left on the My Craft Spot blog - here is today's giveaway:

Make sure and hop over to leave a comment for a chance to win! And I'll see you again tomorrow with more sneak peeks!!! Have a great day!!!
