My Craft Spot Monday Challenge - Invitations and Announcements

Hello! First off I wanted to give a quick reminder to check out my Moving Sale if you want to do a bit of shopping! Today is the last day to make a purchase and have a chance to win a little something extra...so click HERE or on the tab above called CRAFTY STUFF FOR SALE.

It's that time of the week again - time for a new challenge over at My Craft Spot! This weeks challenge is Invitations and Announcements. I know this might be a bit of a stretch - but I thought this might make a really cute birthday party invitation! Here is what I made:
I started off this card with my color scheme in mind! As I was tucking my daughters into bed the other night, she had picked a tank top in that lovely apricot orange color, and turquoise knit shorts. I fell in LOVE with the color combo right there, and determined to make a card with it! She was pretty happy to see the finished project, and know she helped inspire me!
I used papers from Studio Calico, and Echo Park to find my color combo. The oval and scallop frame were cut on my Cricut using Lacey Labels. The silhouette is from A Child's Year.
I cut the sentiment banner from the Theresa Collins cartridge, Sophisticated. I then stamped the sentiment using Tim Holtz distress ink, and the My Craft Spot stamp set called Birthday Wishes. (Click HERE to see all of the available stamp sets) I curled the banner a bit before attaching it to my card with two pieces of foam adhesive - so it gave it a bit of the look of a flag.

Even though this is for an announcement/invitation challenge, I will probably use this as a birthday card (shhhh...don't tell!) - so I added this sentiment to the inside:
Before I attached the silhouette and frame, I tied some Crinkle ribbon from My Craft Spot in Caribbean underneath, and added a bow on each side, topped with a stick on pearl. (Click HERE to check out all the crinkle ribbon available at My Craft Spot - it is all so beautiful!)
Then...I used foam adhesive for the silhouette, and also the frame - so lots of dimension!
I'm so glad to see you again this morning! Make sure and head over to My Craft Spot to see what the rest of the Design Team created for this challenge (and there are some adorable projects this time around!) - and to make sure and link up your own creation for a chance to win this weeks prize!!! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Exciting morning...and some CHOCOLATE!!!

So...I got up this morning, and while doing my usual morning check of the Cricut Circle blog, I saw that they had listed the winners of the May montly challenge. I proceeded to read right past my own name, before doing a double take, and realizing THAT was MY name!!! Yep...I won a new Cricut Expression 2 Anniversary Edition!!!!!!! I don't think I have enough exclamation marks to say how excited I am!!!! I really wanted one of these, but since my E is working fine, there was absolutely NO way I could justify forking out the money for a new machine! I would have just felt too guilty and wasteful! However...I certainly won't complain about winning!!! Especially since my birthday was in May - what a GREAT gift!!!

Then, as I did my normal blog hopping, I noticed that my little sheep card that I entered into the All Things Unity challenge, was picked as one of the featured players for the challenge! One more little treat for the morning!

So...I came across one of the chocolate kits that I made and somehow missed posting on here around Mother's Day - so since this morning was full of treats, what better to add to it than CHOCOLATE, right? For this particular kit, the lettering came from Nursery Rhymes font, and the rest of the cuts are from Lacey Labels. I used lots of ink and Martha Stewart glitter, and a bit of ribbon and doodling. Hope you all have a special day full of fun surprises!!! (Maybe even chocolate!!!)

Thanks Mom Blog Hop!!!

Welcome to the THANKS MOM BLOG HOP. Thanks for joining us to enjoy all the wonderful crafty inspiration in honor of mother's everywhere from the talented designers in this hop.

You should have arrived here from Robin. If you missed the beginning of the hop, please go back to the start of the hop at
Debbie to start so you don't miss any of the projects. There is a Grand Prize Blog Candy offered so you want to start at the beginning and read how to participate to win. I have listed the entire line-up for you at the end in case you get lost!

For my project, I made a Mother's Day card. I used Lacey Labels for the shaped card, welded on my Gypsy, and all the other background shapes. The cute critter is from Birthday Bash with a Peachy Keen Face from the Wide Eyed and Bushy-tailed assortment. I put him on an Action Wobble - just LOVE those things! I had to add an oval shape on the back of him to have a large enough shape to attach the Wobble without it showing. Did lots and lots of doodling, and finished off with a sentiment from Emma's stamp set called Mom You Rock. The music note is also from Emma's stamps, but came from Wow! So Many Candles.

So to thank you for stopping by, I thought I would giveaway a little bundle of some of my favorite things. There is an assortment of all 11 colors of twine from The Twinery (either 2 or 3 yards...can't remmber exactly how much I cut off!), a bottle of Glossy Accents, 3 Action Wobbles, some stick on pearls, and a clear stamp border set. Just leave me a comment with a way to reach you, and I will draw a winner on Tuesday May 10th!!!

Happy Happy Days!

Wanted to share a kind of quick and fun card today! Even though it is POURING down rain here right now, we have had some BEAUTIFUL spring days - which is what inspired this card!

The shaped card was welded together on my Gypsy from Lacey Labels. The tree shape is from Just Because Cards - using the label feature. Added some Stickles, a sentiment from Scrappy Mom's Stamps, some stitching with my white gel pen, and a little Baker's Twine bow.

Have a beautiful day!!!

Happy Easter...white with ink

I wanted to make an Easter card entirely out of white paper, so the other day I pulled out some paper, and my Cuttlebug and gave it a go.

I used the cartridge Lacey labels for the shaped card, welded on my Gypsy, and for the background shapes. The cross came from Indie Art using the shadow and blackout feature. I ran the layers through the Cuttlebug, but when it was all layed out, it just needed something more, so I ended up inking the edges of everything. Added a sentiment from Pink by Design and a bit of Baker's twine to finish it off.

Drip drip drop little April showers...

This morning I saw the challenge over at Paper Playtime: Weather Challenge, and new exactly what I wanted to do! You see, I got these little dew drops on clearance at Michaels a few weeks ago, and thought they looked JUST like raindrops...so this cute little girls from Once Upon a Princess with her umbrella and raincoat sounded so much fun...especially when the idea to put Glossy Aceents on her coat, boots, and umbrella came to mind! (The second picture shows the Glossy Accents a little bit better!)

Now for the other details! I added a Peachy Face to my little girl (of course!), and a shaped background cut from Lacey Labels. Also used a sentiment from my first set of Scrappy Mom's Stamps. Finished with some doodling, and a little bit of Baker's Twine.

Cherry Miracle

Had cherries on my brain lately! I know, kind of random - maybe I'm just wishing for summer!

But I had this the red polka dot background (from Lacey Labels) cut out recently for another card, and didn't use it. It just looked SOOO perfect for a cherry card! So I stamped the cherry from the August 2010 Kit of the Month in black, red, and green, cut out the cherry in red and the leaves in green, and pop-dotted them on the black one. Added a sentiment from the June 2009 Kit of the Month, some Baker's Twine, and some doodles.

Tacky Tuesday Challenge - Hip Chick

I really wanted to make this card for the Tacky Tuesdays Challenge, so I managed to sneak it together early this morning! I love how it came out!

The challenge was to use the chick from Simply Charmed, and the sentiment had to include the word "chick" in it. So I cut the sentiment from Straight from the Nest, then added a Peachy Keen Face to the chick by combining the eyes from the Wide Eyed Kids Assortment and the beak from the Critter Faces. I love combining parts of two different faces to come up with something new and cute! I added the flower to cover up an ink smudge I made (oops!) and then my 7 year old daughter suggested the necklace - and I LOVE how that idea worked! Cut the card shape from Lacey Labels, welding two together with my Gypsy. Added some Baker's Twine in a bow with a button, some stick on pearls, and some doodling around the edges. Fun, fun!

Sharing a favorite scrapbook page...or two!

I usually only post cards on here, but I really loved how these couple pages came out, so I thought I would go ahead and share them here too.

The first one is also for the Cricut Circle weekly challenge. The challenge is B.A.B.Y. - which each stand for something. B=brads, A=aqua, B=butterfly, Y=you as a subject. So...this also includes my kids, but it was as close and I was going to get as a page about me! The brads are hard to see, but are little black square ones on the corners of the photo. The aqua is pretty obvious, I did lots of butterflies (cut from Straight from the Nest), and the pic is me and my two daughters. The label is from Lacey Labels. Added some doodling with my white gel pen, and inked all the butterflies and the label.

This second pictures is just one that made me happy! It is a pic of my husband and daughters - and I love the picture, and really love how the page turned out as well. The label is also from Lacey Labels. I just added some Prima flowers instead of the ones that came with it, and added a computer generated sentiment.

Dance like no one's watching

Good evening! I couldn't wait until tomorrow, so I decided to post this tonight! Made this for the weekly challenge on the Cricut Circle message board - a sketch challenge. You also had to include at least 2 Cricut cuts, buttons, and incorporate stamps.

So...I cute the shape card by welding two shapes from Lacey Labels together. Then I cut another shape for the inside, and also a silhouette from Shall We Dance to embellish the inside. For the stamps, I used the cute little girl and some of her goodies from the set I got and used a while back from Crafty Secrets, and colored them in with my new Prismacolor pencils (which I LOVE by the way!). The buttons are some decorative dance ones that I used one of my husbands tools (thanks honey!) to cut the back off of so they would sit flat. The sentiment is from one of my Unity Stamp sets. Inked pretty much everything, added some doodling, pop dotted EVERYTHING on the front, and that was it. Had a lot of fun - and made something a lot different than anything I have ever made before!

Sweet baby

I love how this card came out! My only regret is that I made it HUGE - 6x6, since I had just gotten some envelopes that size. However...I didn't take into account the fact that it should have been slightly smaller to allow it to fit INTO the envelope until I was all finished! So...it will just have to either have no envelope, or just slip in one of the clear sleeves (which it does fit in fortunately!)

I started off with the umbrella from New Arrival, and added a Peachy Keen face from the Princess face assortment. The background shape came from Lacey Labels, and cut a circle out of the center and ran it through the Cuttlebug. Added some stick on pearls, LOTS of faux stitching, a bit of inking to the umbrella, some ribbon, and a stamped sentiment from my stash. Oh yeah...also pop-dotted the umbrella and the sentiment from the background.

Thanks for looking - and have a great day!

Tree from Serenade

I have LOVED this tree from the Serenade cartridge ever since I first saw it. Since I have that cartridge, and hadn't gotten a chance to use it yet, it was pretty simple to pick what I wanted to be my first cut from the cartridge! The background shape came from Lacey Labels, then I added some Glossy Accents to the leaves. Stamped the sentiment from a stamp in my stash, added some ribbon, and finished with a little bling with my Jolee's Heat Set tool.

Have a happy and safe New Year - hard to believe it is already that time!!! I just got used to writing 2010...

Black and White Snowman...

Needed to make a card using cuts from two different carts for a challenge, and for some reason it popped into my head that it would be fun to make a snowman card using only black and white! So...this is the result!

The cute snowman came from Gypsy Wanderings, with a Peachy Keen Face of course. The background is from Lacey Labels, used the Cuttlebug for the embossing, a Pink by Design stamped sentiment, and added a little ribbon. This took me less than 15 minutes to make! Love the fast ones!

Catching up on a few cards...

We were without internet the last couple of days, so I was unable to post these as I finished them! Also had an eventful couple of days! My 7 year old daughter fell on a trampoline and broke her two front teeth, and of course, her adult teeth had already come in! So we spent a day at the dentist getting those repaired. Then I spent the day at the doctor and specialist yesterday with another ear infection, fortunately a LOT less severe than the previous one I had a few months ago. Life feels a little back to normal this morning, so I thought I would post these 3 cards I got made over the last couple of days, mostly before the craziness set in!

This first one used my Peachy Keen Stamps, one of the cute snowmen from Snow Friends seasonal cartridge (which was the first time I had ever used it!), a background cut from Lacey Labels (my first Lite cartridge - and first time using it!), Cuttlebug on the background, lots of inking, some doodling, a little ribbon, and a sentiment from the Pink by Design Winter Fun set. The snowman and the sentiment are also pop-dotted from the card for dimension.

This second one was kind of a struggle to finish for some reason. I'm still not sure I'm entirely happy with it, but I don't know what else to do with it! It is for a sketch challenge on the Cricut Circle blog. Anyway, used Lacey Labels for the scallop circle and threaded some ribbon through it with a button at the top. Did a little cuttlebug on an oval to fit in the center, and cut out the ice skater from Winter Woodland cartridge. Put ribbon along the side, added a sentiment from My Pink Stamper's Winter Fun set, LOTS of inking, Glossy Accents on the ice skater and the little corner pieces, and pop-dotted the skater and the sentiment.

The last one kind of came about a little different than I planned! I had originally cut the tree and added the Peachy Keen Stamp to go on the last card, but it just didn't seem to fit - so I added Stickles and Glossy Accents, and made another card for it! The tree was cut from Joys of the Season - and this card also has a little ribbon, lots of inking, and of course, a My Pink Stamper sentiment.

Thanks for looking - and hope you are having a wonderful Christmas season so far!
