Cricut 360 Blog Hop

Welcome to Houses Built of Cards - and one of the stops along the Cricut 360's Spooky Halloween Blog Hop. I'm a bit of a twist along the way, since my family and I don't celebrate Halloween...so I made a little different card to meet the requirements!

If you have just arrived here from Jo then you're in the right spot!!! If you just happened along here and want to go back to the beginning and join in the entire hop, then head back to Cricut 360 for all the details! Make sure to check out each design team member along the way for inspiration, and to collect the clue words along the way to play along in this weeks challenge. There will also be prizes along the way at some of the Design Team's blogs, as well as a GRAND PRIZE - a Freshly Picked cricut cartridge if you link up your project at Cricut 360! Fun, right?

Here is what I came up with for the theme. I used Elegant Edges for the background shapes, and Nursery Rhymes for Little Miss Muffet. The sentiment is from Scrappy Mom's stamps. I did lots of inking with black ink to make it pop. I love the PURPLE background, don't you? (hint: that is my clue word!)

I don't have a giveaway today, since I am celebrating my first blogiversary next week, and have LOTS of giveaways planned for that! So you might want to visit next week and see what is going on!

Now it's time to hop on over to Darlene and see what she has waiting for you! Don't forget to link up your project on Cricut 360 when you find all of the clue words! Here is the blog hop line up in case you get lost:

Cricut 360 - Challenge #13 - Pastel Baby

Hello! Welcome to another Cricut 360 Challenge! This week we are doing baby cards, using pastel colors and embossing. I had been wanting to make this card for a while - so I was pretty excited to get it out of my head and into paper! Here is what a made:

I used Elegant Edges to weld a card shape together, as well as for the frame. Ran the frame through my Cuttlebug with my favorite embossing folder - Swiss Dots. Inked the edges of each of those pieces.

The cute pregnant mommy is cut from Everyday Pop-up cards. Love how simple that image is to piece together. Pop-dotted her from the background as well.

The sentiment is from one of Emma's My Creative Time stamps - this is a huge part of why I bought this set! I thought it was such a cute sentiment! It doesn't show up as well on the pattern paper as I wish it did, so if you can't read it, it says "Goodbye Tummy, Hello Mommy." Isn't that sweet???

Thanks for stopping by again! Make sure and head over to Cricut 360 to see what the rest of the design team put together, and to link up your creation for a chance to win this weeks prize! Can't wait to see what you make!

Cricut 360 - Challenge #12 - Native American Day

Can you believe that it is halfway through September already? Hard to believe it - although it is truly starting to actually feel like it! So, since September 19th is Native American Day, the challenge this week at Cricut 360 is to make something with this in mind. One of the first things that came to mind for me, was Indian Corn - we always used to grow it when I was a kid and use it to decorate our house in the Fall. So...this is what I came up with to mimic it:

I used the corn cut from Country Life, only instead of cutting out all the layers, I layered it with a bunch of colored dew drops using zip dry glue! Love the effect it had! The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Co. and I added some machine stitching around the card to finish it off.

Oh yes, and the corn is pop-dotted off the background as well - just for fun!

Thanks for stopping by today! Now, head on over to Cricut 360 to link up your own creation for a chance to win this weeks prize - and be entered in the grand prize for the month! Can't wait to see what everyone creates!

Cricut 360 - Challenge #11 - Hero

It's time for another Cricut 360 challenge, and since we are only days from the anniversary of September 11, 2001, the challenge is to make a project for the hero in your life. As do so many people, I remember that day so clearly, even now. At the time, my dad, brother, sister, and future brother in law (as well as many other friends) were all on volunteer fire departments in our area, and I grew up watching my dad rush out the door when the fire alarm went off. So, without a doubt, my heart and thoughts were with all the firefighters and their families that day, and all the bravery and sacrifices they made. So here is my card for this week:

I used A Child's year for the fireman cut, and pop-dotted it from the background.

The sentiment is from My Creative Time's "You're My Best Buddy."

Added just a simple piece of ribbon and some faux stitching around the edges to finish it off.

So...want to know what you can win this week? We are sponsored this week by My Pink Stamper with this set:

Cricut 360 - Challenge #9 - Relax

Hello! It's time for Challenge #9 at Cricut 360 - Relax is the theme this time around! I had kind of a crazy week, so I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to spend on this, but that's okay. Sometimes simple is good! Here is the card I came up with:

Something about a rocking chair just makes me want to relax looking at it, doesn't it you? And I remembered happening upon this great cut on Kate's ABC's - it is hiding in the alphabet key! Anyway, I cut it out, and covered it with Glossy Accents. I don't know if you can see, but it shines so pretty!

I then cut a background with my go-to cartridge - Elegant Edges! Did some doodling around the edges, added a sentiment from Unity Stamp Co., and finished off with some sheer ribbon.

So - I'd love to see what you come up with! Click HERE to come join the fun for a chance to win this weeks prize!

Cricut 360 - Challenge #8 - Back to School!

Good morning! It's Friday, which means it's time for another challenge over at Cricut 360! Make sure and hop over to see who won last week's prize, and who the top 3 picks for the week are. Our new challenge for the week is all about...you guessed it - Back to School! Can't believe it is that time already! I homeschool both of my girls, and I really don't feel ready for the summer to be over yet - but I don't know if I ever would feel that way! So...here is my card to celebrate that it is almost here!

I used Give a Hoot to cut out the apple, added some inking and stitching with my white gel pen, and used some Glossy Accents and Martha Stewart chunky glitter in the center of the apple. The background is just a rectangle of paper that I punched the edge on with an EK success punch and ran through my Cuttlebug. The tag was cut from Once Upon a Princess, and the sentiment is from Unity Stamps.

Added some more inking and stitching around the edges of the card, some bling with my Jolee's Heat Set tool, and some buttons and jute cord. Also pop-dotted the apple when attaching it to the card!

Hope you enjoyed looking - now head on over to the Cricut 360 blog to see what the rest of the Design Team whipped out, and to link up your own creation for a chance to win this weeks prize! Can't wait to see what you come up with!!!

I am also entering this in three challenges - this weeks Cricut Cardz Challenge - back to school with the 3 R's - ribbon, rhinestones, and the color red (the jute cord counts as ribbon, right?), and this weeks challenge over at Bitten By the Bug 2 - make a project using the Cricut, a stamp, and the color red. The last challenge is the Unity Stamp Company Challenge, Back to School. And one last one - the Learning Curve Challenge over at Paper Issues.

Cricut 360 - Challenge #5 - Travel

It's Friday - which means it's time for another Cricut 360 post! This week the theme is Travel...boats, planes, cars, trains - anything that makes you think of traveling! Make sure to click over and link your post for a chance to win this weeks prize!

For my card, I had been dying to try out my newest Circle Exclusive cartridge, Pop-up Neighborhood. This plane caught my eye the first time I looked through the cartridge handbook, so I decided to use it for my card. I used some My Mind's Eye 6x6 stacks of paper for this card - I am SOOOO in love with those! They are the perfect size for making cards, and I don't feel like I am wasting paper that way!

I added some stitching on the plane, and around the edges of the card - also inked just the edges of the card in brown ink. The plane is pop-dotted from the rest of the card to add some dimension. I also cut the clouds from Pop-up Neighborhood. I reversed a couple of them, and skewed some of them a little, and changed the width and height so that they didn't all look identical. The sentiment is from Scrappy Mom's stamps - I stamped the first part, then cleaned the stamp and stamped the second part so they were side by side instead of stacked. Finished off with a bit of Baker's Twine along the bottom.

Thanks for stopping by - and make sure and link your own creations at Cricut 360 - can't wait to see what you create!!!

Cricut 360 Challenge #4 - The Great Outdoors

Hello, and welcome! It is time for Challenge #4 at Cricut 360! Once again - I had such a blast browsing all the great entries to last weeks challenge! Thanks to all who participated and joined the fun! This week, the challenge is to create something to celebrate The Great Outdoors. (Check out the bottom to see what you have a chance to win this week!)

I made this card for my husband's birthday - that's why it's so simple and manly! Those are some of the hardest cards for me to make, and I am always looking for ideas! It is amazing how difficult it is to be a girl and still make something that a guy would like! My husband loves getting outdoors, going for a drive in the mountains, camping, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, fishing - you name it! And I am a total tree person - that probably sounds funny, but wherever we travel, I'm always noticing the trees and how cool they all are. So that's how this card came about - it's perfect for him!

I used Give a Hoot for the tree, tore some pattern paper for the bottom of the card, and used a sentiment from Scrappy Mom's Stamps. Finished off with a little faux stitching around the edges with my white gel pen. Also pop-dotted the tree from the background for a bit of dimension.

And...here you have it! This is the prize for this week! So make sure and head over to Cricut 360 to link up your project celebrating The Great Outdoors!!!

Cricut 360 Challenge #3 - Parents Day!

Good morning - and welcome to week #3 with Cricut 360! This weeks challenge is to make something in honor of Parents Day, which is July 24! Make sure and visit Cricut 360 to see what all the Design Team made, and link up your card for a chance to win this weeks prize (see the bottom of this post if you want to see what you are playing for this week!

For my card, since I am still limping along without my Gypsy, I thought it would be a good opportunity to make use of some of the cartridges that are pre-loaded on my E2. So, I cut this cute couple out from Cricut Decals, and the cute tag shape from Cricut Essentials. I added some Peachy Keen faces, a bit of bling with my Jolee's heat set tool, sentiments from Emma's My Creative Time stamps, some ribbon, a bit of doodling, and inking on the edges of almost everything.

And...here is what you have a chance to win this week! So get going on your own creations for parents day, and come join the fun at Cricut 360! Can't wait to see you there!

I am also entering this is the Peachy Keen Let's Face it Friday Challenge - to use patterned paper!

Cricut 360 - Date Night Invitation

Hello, and welcome to my first Design Team post for Cricut 360 - an AWESOME new challenge blog!!! To join in the challenge, and for a chance at the monthly prize, all you have to do is make an invitation of any kind (birthday, wedding, concert - use your imagination!) and link up on the Cricut 360 blog! Here is what you can win this week:

For my card, I decided to make an invitation for my husband - for a romantic date night! When you have kids, you learn REALLY quickly to treasure those opportunities!!! And it is something we try to make time to do as often as possible, knowing that we need to keep our relationship as a priority as well.

Anyway...for my card, I used the silhoette of the couple from Sweethearts cartridge. Inked the edges of the yellow shadow, and added some doodling, before pop-dotting from the background. I then cut the tag shape from Once Upon a Princess, and inked the edges of it as well. The sentiment is from a random stamp in my stash (possibly by Fiskars?) I used some felt for the banner, hand cut and glued down with Zip Dry glue. Added some Baker's Twine to the banner, and used some to attach the tag with the sentiment. Finished off with a litttle bit of doodling around the outside edge.

Thanks for stopping by - now go link up your own invitation!!! Can't wait to see what you create!!!
