Case Study Anniversary Challenge

Case Study is one of my favorite blogs to lurk on, but I have never tried to participate before. Since they are celebrating their 1st Anniversary, and I had time to do it, I decided to join in on the fun this time! This is the card I made for my Mother-in-law's birthday.

The challenge was to case a card from any of the Design Team. I chose Andrea Ewan - I LOVE the style of ALL of her cards! Here is my take on her card:

As you can see, I used a brighter color combo, but the doily, machine stitching, matting, and layout all completely inspired me!

I used Unity Stamps June KOTM for the cupcake and sentiment, as well as the background behind the doily. It is hard to see, but I used the number stacked image from the same June KOTM, and stamped it in burgundy on a pink pattern paper. I colored the cupcake a little in some soft colors with my Copic Markers, and used Glossy Accents and glitter on the frosting. The flame of the candle was colored with an orange Prismacolor pencil, with a bit of orange stickles added on top. Inked the edges of the doily in Tim Holtz distress ink - antique linen. Then inked the edges of everything else in brown ink.

Also did a bunch of machine stitching, and added a bow with crinkle ribbon. Finished the bow off with a button I made myself (with Martha Stewarts button punch and glossy accents) and a bit of jute cord.

I am also entering this in this week's Frosted Designs challenge - to color somewhere on your project, and the All Things Unity Challenge #31 - Old School, anything vintage!

Thanks for stopping by - hope you have a great Monday!!!

What a clever way to make a button, too! It's a fantastic CASE! Thanks for being a part of our first birthday celebration at CASE Study!
