Watercolor Paintables

Good morning! Today I'm sharing a couple of cards using the beautiful pre-printed Watercolor Paintables by Suzy Plantamura from the Cherished release from Simon Says Stamp - this set was particularly lovely, and I love how nice it is to have something all ready to just color when you have a few spare minutes that will make a fabulous card with minimal supplies and effort. I've also added little touches to these to make them a bit more unique as well which is fun!

This one I colored using almost a serious of tiny dots - dabbing my watercolors on in a tapping motion. I love the mottled effect this gives and all the texture! It is hard to see in the photos, but I also added Stickles to the flowers and the butterflies wings. The perfect finishing touch for this dreamy card!

And for the next card I did a simpler and quicker watercoloring - but layered up color for texture and depth.

I set down a light watercolor wash in each color, then came over again with the same color to add more depth.

And then, for the finishing touch on this one - I added Glossy Accents to the words, centers of the flowers, and the birds eye, beak, and feet. On both of these cards I rounded off one corner after adhering it to a white top folding cardbase. One more little touch to make them uniquely mine!

Thanks for Everything Sunflower

Good morning! Dropping by today with another card using goodies from the Cherished release from Simon Says Stamp - I love this summery sunflower from the Summer Flowers stamp set, and it was a blast to watercolor!

I just took my time with this image and kept layering on my watercolors, starting with very soft colors and slowly building the color. The sentiment is from Thoughtful Messages - one of the best new sentiment stamp sets I've seen in a while! Love it! Added some pattern paper to the top and bottom and a bit of machine stitching to tie it all together!

You Are Brilliant!

Good morning! Dropping by today with another card using goodies from the Cherished release from Simon Says Stamp - I used a couple dies and a fabulous new sentiment stamp set that I am in love with!

First off I die cut the Floral Sparkle Die from white cardstock and backed it with some pretty bright yellow paper from a 6x6 paper pad. I then die cut it with another new favorite die set - Wonky Rectangles. The sentiment is from Thoughtful Messages - the perfect sentiment stamp set to say just about anything!

I trimmed a little strip out of the top of the rectangle die cut, then mounted the two pieces on a piece of green Lawn Fawn plaid pattern paper and wrapped some twine around the hole thing to tie in that space. This was the best part - I filled in each of the holes with Glossy Accents (it looks like stained glass!) and added some Nuvo Crystal Drops to the center of the solid sparkles in the die. Such a fun and sparkly effect!

Unity and MISTI Blog Hop

Good morning! Super excited to be part of a HUGE and FABULOUS Blog Hop with the Unity Stamp Company and MISTI Design Teams! TONS of inspiration - this is a super picture heavy post just so you are fairly warned. There is also a giveaway for those who leave comments along the hop.

Everyone who leaves comments on all the blogs in the hop will go into a drawing for 3 prize packs from Unity and winner's choice of an Original or Mini MISTI. Please leave comments by May 30th at noon Central to be eligible. Winners will be posted on both the Unity Blog and My Sweet Petunia Blogs on May 31st.

There are so many wonderful ways to use your MISTI with your Unity Stamps - I've highlighted a couple with some Quick Tip videos to share today - I have a couple past videos you can see HERE and HERE if you are looking for more inspiration.

Here is the video showing how using both my Original and Mini Misti helped me quickly put this set together - as well as be able to layer the embossing for a seamless card front:

This is the card I did in the video - after the video, and once I finished the other color combos, I added some splashes of water and of gold watercolor and die cut with a simple rectangle die.

Here is a closer look at each of the color combos I did - so much fun playing with distress inks and color combos! Makes me so happy!

I love how all together they look like a pile of different colors of sherbet...yummy!

And for the next technique, I also used the brand new Mirror Stamping Tool - so many fun techniques I'm looking forward to trying with this! I paired it up with the Baby Boy Plaid and some stamp kissing to create these backgrounds:

Here is a closer look:

I love that I was able to use both backgrounds. No waste, and two cards for the same effort - perfection!

This technique worked very well with distress oxide inks. I would imagine pigment inks would also work well - not sure about dye inks as I haven't attempted that yet!

The fun color combos with this are endless as well!

Here is the entire blog hop list in case you get lost along the way - you are almost at the beginning!
