Altenew Build a Flower Hibiscus - Guest Designer

Good morning! I'm super delighted this morning to be a guest designer for the latest addition to Altenew's popular monthly Build a Flower release - this month featuring the beautiful Hibiscus! In addition to giveaways featured on the Altenew Card Blog and Altenew Scrapbook Blog, Altenew has provided a separate giveaway for one of my readers! Woohoo!

Now a little more info about this gorgeous set:

Build a Flower Hibiscus includes one stamp set with 24 images, and 1 coordinating die set with 3 dies - you can find this set HERE. It is also available as a bundle HERE with some ink cubes to get you started!

Hibiscus are native to warm climates and are associated with tropical weather and relaxing summer days. Hibiscus flowers have symbolized many things through history, but are now most commonly known to represent "delicate beauty." This set comprised of a 6 layer hibiscus flower in full bloom, a 6 layer hibiscus bud with stem, and a 4 layer leaf image. Three beautiful sentiments are also included.

This special product is only sold as a set, not individually.

I have two cards to share with you today using this gorgeous set! First up, this bold and happy card:

I stamped the large flower in a combination of different yellows and oranges (affiliate links to all the colors at the bottom of this post) and the small bud using a variety of pinks. I'm always amazed by the magic of Altenew's color layering florals - so fun to watch it come together, and the finished flower is always so amazing! These flowers remind me of our trips to Hawaii and seeing them everywhere!

I used a green cardbase, added some splatters with Altenew's new Pure White Ink Spray, then arranged the florals over the top. Once I had a layout I was happy with, I used Jennifer McGuire's trick of Press & Seal to pick the whole thing up, flip it over and add foam adhesive, then hold it together to place it perfectly back where I wanted! I then added one of the sentiments from the set, stamped on a strip of white cardstock, also with a bit of foam adhesive.

I stamped so many of the flowers and leaves, that I ended up making another card with the extras. For this one I used just the yellow blooms, and went with a softer background and more white for a lighter feel:

For this card, I first did a soft stenciled background using the recently released Classy Stripes Stencil and some Salty Ocean Distress Ink. I added some splatters with the new Jet Black Ink Spray, and stamped my sentiment directly on the white panel.

I then layered the flowers and leaves on - popping the flowers and two of the leaves up on foam tape, and adhering two of the leaves directly on the cardbase. This was a fun way to add dimension to the arrangement. I then matted it in a bit more white cardstock, then layered on a kraft cardbase.
