Watercolor Candy Canes - Simon Says Stamp Candy Cane Background

Good moring! I'm back this morning to share another card using a gorgeous background from the Fabulous NEW Cheer and Joy Release from Simon Says Stamp, paired up with a sentiment from an older stamp set. The new Candy Cane Background stamp was so fun to use on my other card from last week featuring some no-line watercoloring with Zig markers (you can see that post HERE) - that I thought I would try it with gold heat embossing and watercoloring as well! I can't decide which I like better!

This time I heat embossed the image on a panel of Arches watercolor paper in gold, and colored it in with my Daniel Smith watercolors. I love using a heat embossed image for watercoloring - the edges of the heat embossing make it so fun to shade and blend and help stay in the lines!

Once the background dried, I trimmed it down and adhered it to a white cardbase, then added a sentiment from the same stamp set as last week's card - Christmas Essentials. For this sentiment, I stamped and heat embossed it in gold on a panel of white cardstock, trimmed it down, then dipped the edges of that tiny panel in clear embossing ink, sprinkled on a bit of gold embossing powder, and heat set that as well. I love the rustic gold edge that added!

Mounted that with foam adhesive, and then embellished with a few Pretty Pink Posh Gold jewels to finish off! If you looked at last week's card, I'd love to hear which is your favorite!
