SPS Inspiration - Speech Bubble Card

Good morning! It's my turn to share some inspiration over at Shop Pumpkin Spice this morning - and I had so much fun making my card to share with you today!
I have been enjoying seen the Speech Bubble trend, and decided to pull out my Silhouette Cameo and Designer Edition Software and create a card using a Speech Bubble. I used files from the online store for the speech bubble, and also the words inside.
My pattern papers are from Glitz Designs and Echo Park Paper company. The stone colored background paper is from Glitz Designs 6x6 Yours Truly paper pad, and the black and white chevron on the bottom is from Glitz Designs 6x6 Cashmere Dame paper pad. The off white I used for the speech bubble is a 12x12 Echo Park page from "Play Ground" (Cloud/Grass Stain), the red for the heart is a 12x12 Echo Park page from "Season's Greetings" (Red/Cream), and the blue in the background and for the word love is also a 12x12 Echo Park page from "Holly Jolly Christmas" (Winter Green/Icicle Blue)
I attached the top half of the sentiment with foam adhesive for a bit of dimension, then attached the bottom half directly to my speech bubble.
I then attached that to my layered card base, also with foam adhesive. Finished off with a tiny wood veneer figure in the bottom right that I colored with a Copic marker to coordinate with my card, and added just a tiny bit of red bling.
I am also linking this up to the Speech Bubble Challenge in the Moxie Fab World!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful weekend!

Hopping along with the Unity March Challenge

Good morning! I am so excited to share a SUPER special post with you today! Today is the start of the new Unity Stamp Company March Monthly Challenge - and I am still somewhat speechless to have been invited to hop along with the Unity Design Team this month! Eeek! There are also two new Phyllis Harris stamps that are being released that we got to play with - I always LOVE every stamp that Phyllis Harris releases with Unity - and these are no exception!

You should have arrived here from the amazingly talented Laurel - if not, check out the entire line-up at the bottom of this post so you don't miss a thing! And...without further ado, here is the new challenge inspiration for the month:

I made 3 projects to share today - the first one is using the card sketch and one of the past Stamp of the Week sets called Precious Things and some pattern paper from a couple new Crate Paper 6x6 paper pads - DIY Shop and Maggie Holmes - the tag is from the same Maggie Holmes collection. There is some October Afternoon velvet scallop ribbon, some pretty gold May Arts ribbon, and a bit of jute twine as well. I lightly inked the edges with some distress ink.
Next up - here are the DARLING new Phyllis Harris sets! LOVE them both!

My next card uses the first one of these - I love this image so much - I think it reminds me of my two daughters! I colored it softly with Copics using the color inspiration for the challenge, layered with some pattern paper from Glitz Designs Uncharted Waters 6x6 paper pad, and added a bit of jute twine and a button.
And here is my card using the second set. I also colored it in with Copic makers using the challenge colors as inspiration, then layered on some American Crafts and Basic Grey pattern papers - tying some crinkle ribbon under the image layer. I added the sentiment on top, with a tiny Tim Holtz paper clip.
Thanks so much for stopping by today to share this fun experience with me! Hope to see you again soon! You're next stop on the hop is the ever fabulous Erin - head over there next to see what she has waiting for you!

Here is the entire blog hop line-up in case you get lost along the way:

You are Strong

Good morning! Just quickly sharing a card I made yesterday for this weeks Play Date Cafe Color Challenge:
Here is the color inspiration for the week:

I just loved how bright and cheerful these colors were! And I had this journal card from a 12x12 Crate Paper sheet and new it was perfect!
I added a sentiment from Unity Stamps, then tucked a doily behind it, and the three coordinating colors of Twinery baker's twine wrapped and tied in bows.
The soft woodgrain paper is from a Basic Grey 6x6 paper pad. I rounded a couple corners, added some self adhesive pearls, and mounted the whole thing on a kraft cardbase with foam adhesive.
The colors make me think of spring! Oh how I am ready for it to arrive! Have a great day!

Bright Camera Card - and a WINNER!

Good morning! One last entry for the Camera Craze Challenge in the Moxie Fab World:
For this one, I grabbed a print and cut file from the Silhouette store (that was all pink), and in my Silhouette Designer Software, selected Object, Style, and Line Color. I then selected the yellow, and it changed that part to a different color. I thought it came out a little more fun that way!
I then layered some pattern paper from a couple of newer Crate Paper 6x6 paper pads - DIY and Maggie Holmes.
Stamped a sentiment from Lil' Inker Designs - and added a bit of bling...
...then rounded the top left corner and attached the camera with foam adhesive.
I sure had fun with this challenge - and looking at all the fun entries! So inspiring! Go check them out if you haven't had a chance yet!

And...since I almost forgot - here is the winner of the Sweet Stamp Shop set from my guest design post:

Congrats Donna! Send me an email at housesbuiltofcards@gmail.com and I will get that in the mail to you!

New SPS Challenge - Time

Good morning! Happy Saturday! Today is the start of a brand new challenge over at Shop Pumpkin Spice - this time the challenge is "Time" - using the word or an element that implies time. I decided to go with the word:
I used some paper from what seems to be my favorite paper company lately - Crate Paper. This is from their 6x6 Fourteen paper pad.
I used a doily, some My Creative Time Stamps and Dies, and some Tim Holtz distress ink.
Finished off with some jute twine and just a touch of bling on the cupcake.
Thanks for stopping by! Make sure and scoot on over to join this weeks challenge!

Sweet Birthday Wishes...Unity FWF

(I have a BUNCH of stamps listed for sale HERE that want to find new homes! Prices are great - hope you'll check them out!)

Good morning - and happy Friday! Time for Unity Friends with Flair. Here is what I have to share this week:
I used the June 2011 Kit of the Month, and some Crate Paper Fourteen 6x6 papers.
Cut and embossed a scallop oval from a Spellbinders die, left the die on and inked it with distress ink in Spun Sugar, then removed the die leaving a pretty outline. Stamped the cupcake image with gray Versafine ink, then added the sentiment over the top with PTI ink.
Added some lace along the bottom, some jute twine, a Crate Paper button (I think from Farmhouse?) and attached the scallop oval with foam adhesive. Finally, attached the whole front panel with foam adhesive to a kraft paper card base.
Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you are having a wonderful week!

Dreaming of the Sea...

Hello again today! LOVE those days when homeschooling goes just right and I can sneak a card or two in! I had been eyeing this weeks Runway Inspired Challenge, and as I looked at some of the papers on my desk - the perfect ones jumped out at me!
Here is the inspiration photo:

I pulled out the stripes and the yellow with my pattern paper - the yellow is from Glitz Designs Uncharted Waters 6x6 paper pad, and the black and white stripe is from Crate Paper's DIY 6x6 paper pad.
As I looked at that nautical paper, I instantly thought of the Market Street Stamps set, Dreaming of the Sea. I used my Paper Smooches Notebook Basic die, then stamped the mermaid image in simple black ink. Added the sentiment with PTI ink - in bright pink, to pull the bit of pink out of the inspiration photo.
Inked the edges with distress ink in Antique Linen, then tied some jute twine and a coordinating button from my stash on, before attaching it to the pattern paper with foam adhesive.
Rounded a couple corners of the pattern paper, as well as the card base - and inked the cardbase with the same distress ink, then attached the front panel with more foam adhesive to the cardbase.
Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you are having a wonderful day!
