Good morning - and happy National Scrapbook Day! I'm excited to be participating in the cross-promotion with Winnie and Walter and Pinkfresh Studio! Lots of fun inspiration, challenges, and of course, prizes!
While I am primarily a card maker, I truly started in this hobby of paper crafting by creating scrapbooks. They have never been anything jaw dropping, fabulous, or amazing - just something I do as a keepsake for our family photos. As card making has taken over a lot of my crafty time, I have transitioned to a Project Life style of album, which makes it so much easier to keep up (who am I kidding, try to CATCH up!) with our memory keeping. Both my daughters, especially my youngest, frequently pull those books out to look through and laugh at all the memories they contain. Each time they do, I'm reminded why I take the effort to do it - and it is so fulfilling and worth it!
So, all that being said, today's challenges are definitely okay to make a card as well (which I did below - just couldn't resist!) - but I wanted to challenge myself to make a layout, not only for the challenge of doing it, but also to sort of pay homage to the aspect of creativity that started me on the road to this hobby. Here is my layout:
I am participating with the mood board challenge - isn't it wonderful? SOOO incredibly versatile!
We received items from the Up In The Clouds collection from Pinkfresh Studios, and I love the bright, fresh, and airy color palette! So fun! I used a couple photos of my daughters from about a year and a half ago (I did say I was trying to catch up, right?) ;)
I used lots of the brand new release from Winnie and Walter on this layout as well, starting with the Essentials: Audrey Cutaways. I trimmed my photos to fit inside them - makes such a perfect mat for them! I also stamped and heat embossed some of the flowers from the lovely In Bloom: Addie's Garden on vellum, and fussy cut them out to tuck in. I used a journaling card from Pinkfresh Studios, and die cut the "smiles" word using The Big, the Bold, and the Friends Cutaways. Added a rub-on from the Pinkfresh pack of rub-ons - which go on like BUTTER I must say! Finally, I tucked a few puffy stickers around the layout, and added a couple of the butterflies from Essentials: Audrey Cutaways - with some machine stitching to adhere them. Also machine stitched around the outer edges - not sure how well you can see it in the photos however!
And, since I'm addicted to card making, I also had to make a card! Love how easily this collection from Pinkfresh Studios adapts to layouts and cards!
I used another journaling card, some of the pattern paper from the set, and a journaling card again. Layered some sentiments from The Big, the Bold, and the Friends, with another rub on that I placed on vellum, then trimmed the top and bottom edges to make a banner, which I attached with my Tim Holtz tiny attacher. I also layered in there a scallop rectangle using Essentials: Audrey Cutaways (can you tell I love them?) The heart is from the new stamp set called True, again stamped on vellum and fussy cut out. Finished off with some jute twine and some Pretty Pink Posh gold sequins.
Now, in case you were wondering, here is the amazing prize you have a chance to win by playing along today! I truly hope you will join us - this is such an easy mood board to play along with! Something for everyone!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day - happy crafting!
Absolutely brilliant scrapbook page Heather! WOW! And I love your luscious layers on your card.
