Christmas Blog Hop with Technique Tuesday

Good morning! Today is a fun blog hop with Technique Tuesday featuring some of the fun new Christmas products that released in August and September! There will also be even more coming in October and November! I'm featuring the new Nativity Silhouettes paired up with Classic Christmas Sentiments in two cards today to share for the hop:

For my first card, I created a watercolor galaxy background for my scene. I started by heat embossing my image and sentiment in clear on watercolor cardstock, then created my galaxy over the top with watercolors.

The heat embossing resists the watercolor, and when I finished, I cleaned off the image and sentiment with a clean damp cloth very carefully to make sure it popped out well.

Next up, I went with a completely unexpected color combination and some distress oxide inks:

For this one, I stamped and heat embossed my image on white cardstock, then masked off a ground line and added distress oxide inks blended around the image, switching the mask partway through to add the ground.

I also added some splatters of Perfect Pearls mixed with water to the background.

Make sure and leave a comment before you leave - Technique Tuesday is giving away a gift certificate to someone who leaves a comment along the hop today!

Here is the entire blog hop list so you don't get lost along the way:

  21. I love this stamp set, and you highlighted it so well. I love the light coming from the manger and the star in your galaxy background. And what an interesting idea with the pastel one. I don't often think of pastel for Christmas, but I do use it for baby cards, so this is a really nice combo of both card "genres". Thanks for sharing with us!

  22. These are two very different cards but equally great !! I might have a slight preference for the first one because of the galaxy background that gives more depth to the design. But the pastel color combo is quite fun too !! Thanks for sharing your process. Love, Marjorie
