Giveaway - tell me a story!

I had no idea what I was starting when I began this blogging journey about 3 months ago! It began as something to help my husband out with his college course, and the website he had to build. Since then - it has turned into something that I have SOOO much fun with! And I can't believe how many people have followed me - so...I wanted to thank you all! I recently was able to purchase the cartridge Simply Charmed for a GREAT deal, and since it is one that I had been wanting for a long time ( because it is so great for using with Peachy Keen Stamps!!!), I picked up an additional one to share with one of you! This is brand new - in the package!

I would like to get to know you all better, so what I would like you to do is leave a comment on this post, telling me the funniest thing that has ever happened to you in your crafty life! It can be something that happened with a project you were making, or at the craft store where you were shopping, crafting with a friend, or whatever! I will pick a random winner on Monday morning (1-10-11), and ship this out right away! (U.S. only please!)

I look forward to reading all your stories!

  1. Hey Girl!! First I just gotta say I've been following for awhile and I love all your cards and you are the one who I first saw peachy keen stamps used on a card. (the cute little duck or chicken I think) So for that I'm thankful!! They are great stamps!!

My funniest story would have to be when my good friend and I went to use the scrap room at archivers together. We both set up our cricuts and just have a blast being out of the house together. One peticular day I was using the CAC and the workers there ran over and where oohing and aaahing over the cart images and were so glad I let them look at the booklet. My friend and I were laughing at them cause they sounded like they were looking at a new baby. But I guess that's probably exactly how I sounded when I first got the cart too!! hahaha!!!

Keep on making your crafts and posting cause I love coming on here and getting inspired.

  2. Good morning... Well, I have not been in the crafting world for that long. I got my Cricut because one of my classmates in college (I am finishing up an early childhood education degree). She told us how much easier it was for her to do all of our assignments, and hers looked so much better than ours. I had to get one.
Anyways the funniest thing is probably when I first received it. My whole family got together to get me one, but my brother (he was a little out of the loop) got me an actual carton of LIVE crickets. LOL He just could not understand why I wanted them.

Thanks so much for all the great inspiration. I am a newer follower, but I have not seen one card that I haven't said "Ooo, That looks great!"

  3. Oh my goodness - I remember when I first got my expression I had NO idea how to read the books that came with the cartridges. I was loading paper by COLOR into my machine and thinking it would somehow know what I was trying to cut out. I remember specifically I was working on a back to school project and was going to cut a school bus ... put the black paper in ... why does this keep cutting the bus?!! Thank goodness I learned how to read these books and have just kept adding more cartridges. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!!!

  4. Oh how fun. Thanks for the awesome giveaway. Hum, my funniest crafting story.... it would probably be when I set a completed card down to take a picture of it. I got distracted and my littlest one added her own touches to it... you know what I mean. Maybe it wasn't funny at the moment but it is now. Hugs- Glora me(at)glorajean(dot)com.

  7. I have a funny story to tell! Last year I had my two neighbors come over because they wanted to make a Valentines day card for their hubby's and wanted to know if I had any ideas! Well, there is always the old bra and panties card I told them! I guess you have to know one of my neighbors, and here her voice to make this really funny! She is really a country girl, but very conservative when it comes to things like this! Anyway, seeing as it is the same shape, we made the bra on the outside, and the panties on the inside! The whole time my neighbor had her head down, and would shake her head and would say things like, Oh, this is so tacky, or raunchy, and why do men like this sort of thing! We were cracking up! When we got to the inside of the card, we were working on the panties, and my other neighbor cut hers to short and it looked like it was a thong! We were busting up laughing by this time! My one neighbor shook her head and said, "Oh gosh, this is so awful, and why are men like this... now I have to make a thong too because it's what men like"! "Men are so gross"! I sat and looked at my card when it was finished and then grabbed lips! My neighbor asked, "What are you going to do with that"? I took it and stamped it on the bottom right butt cheek of my card! You should have seen the look on her face!!! She let out a big, "UGH, and then said, "pass it over"! We were rolling so hard with laughter that tears were rolling!
Anyway, I thought I would share it with all of you!

  9. What a very cute card. I love it. my funniest craft story would be when I first started out crafting 3 years ago. Didn't know anything, but did know that my pictures needed a home. I went to a scrapbook glass and didn't know where to start or how. It was amazing to see the lil bug and asked what it was. I didn't even know where to turn it on. Now i have my lil bug and the E . I love both and will keep my lilbug forever.

  10. I think my best crafting story is the fact that I live in Virginia now - transplanted from Chicago. My BFF in Chicago has been going to a scrap retreat in Michigan and has now got me hooked. So we meet up in Michigan twice a year and have a great long weekend of reminecing, making new memories and naturally sharing our craft together!

  11. I am a follower almost since you start your blog and I consider it as one of my favorites, you are so talented but what I like the most is to see what you do with your cards... Building houses one card at a time... wonderful!

On August 2008, my husband gave to me my Cricut as a mother's day gift (we celebrate mother's day on Ag.15th.)I must recognize that at that time I did not have an idea of how wide is the paper crafting world and I refused to buy the expression even though he offered it to me (I couldn't be more wrong) At that time I also thought that the 2 cartridges the machine came with were more than enough, so I also refused to buy more cartridges. My husband still make jokes about that everytime I say I want a new cartridge.

  12. Well, my funny story involves my 4year okd granddaughter. She likes to do "projects". I had my cuttlebug setting out on the table and she asked me what it was so I showed how the embossing worked. She asked if she could do it. Of course I said yes. So here she is turning the handle and its kind of hard for her but she wants to do it herself. Finally she looks up at me and she's holding the crank really hard and says..." I can do this Me Maw, I got perserverance!" I just started cracking uo, and told her yes she can do it! She's ony four but has perserverance? Shes such a hoot.

  13. I just discovered your blog! Came over from the Cricut message board. I love your cards and what you do with your sale proceeds is awesome!

My favorite crafting story concerns my 6 year old daughter. At her elementary school they have "clubs" on Fridays. She comes home from school one day in December and tells me that she has signed me up to teach a club. She proceeds to tell me that I will be teaching her classmates how to make cards and that I will be bringing my Cricut to school. Not too long afterward I received an e-mail from her teacher wanting to know what card making and crickets had to do with each other and that bringing live bugs into the classroom wasn't really a good idea! LOL!

Anyway, starting next Friday, I'll be teaching eight Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders how to make cards. My daughter has picked her favorite images from Create-A-Critter and we sat down and designed 8 cards (two cards a week for four weeks).

Thanks for the chance to win the cartridge!

  14. I just found your blog via Peachy, I was attempting to make my first mini album and was squeezing the Scotch quick dry adhesive. I must have squeezed to hard because the top exploded and the glue flew all over! ( And not just a little glue!) It was up the wall, all over my craft table and across the cabinets! It was a huge mess!

I am your newest follower and hope you will come by to visit!

  15. Just found your blog. I came over from the Cricut MB. It is fun to check out blogs and when I have time I do my own blog hopping. My not too funny crafting story is... My DIL told me once how she never understood why some people like to send cards with mice on them. There are so many Cricut cartridges with mice and I could not remember if I ever made one with a mouse on it for her. Now I make sure I never use mice on projects. As soon as I see a cute mouse cut I think.. Oh no I can't make that. I have enjoyed the funny stories.. thanks bettylarryn at yahoo dot com

  17. Hi, great blog i just found it :)

As for my funny story...My friend and I were asked by our community center to do a cricut adult class for our communtiy. They advertised it for weeks and we felt like the cricut queens, people kept asking us about the class and they seem excited about the class....long story short the day finally came and an hour after the class had started we were waiting and waiting and no one had showed up:( we then realized that class that we had just gotten stood up for wasnt til the next week...lol! So all our planning and the two hours we took to set up had to wait for another week!

Thanks for letting me share my story

  18. Thanks Heather!

Let's see my funniest story is pretty recent - took the baby to Michael's and to keep her distracted showed her the MS punches on the clearance shelf. She picked up one in each hand and proceeded to then run away from me through the store giggling like a little devil! She does love her punches!

  19. Hi! I am a new follower:0) I love your blog. I am not sure if this is a funny story but I want to share how I started my blog. My daughter who was 8 at the time decided it would be a good idea for mommy to have a blog since she had seen me looking at other blogs and she asked if she could also start a blog so I caved and created my blog and told her we would share and I would post her creations as well. I never imagined that I would get such pleasure out of my blog and I now thank her for the great idea. Children aren't afraid to try new things and that was my lesson learned from her:)

  21. Congrats on the success of your blog ... your cards are wonderful! I really don't have a funny story, but I do find it amusing that my family now speaks "Cricut" and have become my biggest enablers.

  22. Not sure how funny this is, but my funniest storeis are when I did not close up my case correctly and all my scrapbook stuff went all over a parking lot where I was going to scrap. I was on my hands and knees crawling around getting all my "stuff." Someone finally felt sorry for me and helped. I wasn't even late for the scrap!

  23. I am a new follower. I am so happy to find your blog from the Cricut Circle MB. Once,I had a little scrap get together with my mom, sister and sister in law. My mom (who is 75 this year) always has things so planned out and she had her title all cut out in advance but when she went to glue them to her page, she had a letter missing. We hunted everywhere for it but never did find that darn letter. The next day, when I talked to her, she told me she found it....glued to the bottom of her sock!

  25. I came to your blog from the Circle board and just love it. I think my funny story would be when I first started scrapbooking. A sister who was into scrapbooking decided that 3 of us sisters needed to swap a double page layout for our Christmas gifts. Not knowing much about scrapbooking - this was the first I had ever done - I tried to put my whole life story on those two pages. I made myself one as I scrapped. Whenever I look at those pages I have to laugh. Boy have I ever came a long way.

  26. I found your blog from your sister Tracy. Well I'm a new follower now and I really like your cards. When I bought my cricut create I starting cutting out hearts and flowers and was having so much fun. I swear I wasn't going to spend all that money on expensive carts. That was back in March...almost a year later I have 23 carts and i'm having a blast. Hugs, Debi

  27. What a great prize! We have been watching your blog for a while and can totally understand the obsession. It has become so much fun taking care of our blog!

Probably the funniest thing, although it wasn't so funny at the time, we used to use a lot of alcohol inks. We really don't anymore, and by the end of the story, you will know why. Hee! Hee! I had purchased a couple of new colors at the LSS and evidently, the Raisin Purple colored one had been there for quite some time. I was getting things organized and thank God didn't have a project out yet, but I was checking the lids and things to make sure they were ok. The purple one was stuck. I tried, and I tried, and I tried to get the lid off. All of the sudden, the top of the bottle split and pretty much exploded straight in the air... meaning my face! If you have ever had alcohol inks on your hands, imagine it all over your face, hands, arms, etc. Needless to say, for the next few days, I got a lot of strange looks from people at work when they saw my purple complexion. It was terrible at the time, but looking back... it's really funny now. Oh well. Atleast it ruined the floor. We put a new floor in a month later, which we were really wanting to do anyway. Hee! Hee!

Thanks for the memory and the laugh! Really enjoyed everyone's stories!

    Most Sincerely,
    Bobby & Jill
