Birthday Foliage Trio - Simon Says Stamp

This month seems to be the month of trios of cards using my Simon Says Stamp supplies, and today is no different, except instead of building my sympathy card stash as I needed to earlier this month, I realized I was a bit low on birthday cards this past weekend, so thought I should spend a bit of time working those! Pair that up with a new stamp set that I hadn't used yet, and the urge to pull out my watercolors and play, and these cards are the result!

I first stamped all my images from the Be Kind stamp set on panels of Arches Cold Pressed watercolor paper. I really should pull out this high quality watercolor paper more often - I really love it, and it totally makes a difference on my watercoloring!

I stamped all the images in black, and offset them on the panel so that they were slightly off the edges in some way, leaving room for the sentiments later.

I had fun mixing and matching up different color combos using my Daniel Smith watercolors - I almost think this monochromatic blue is my favorite...although it certainly is a hard choice!

Once all the images dried, I stamped the sentiment from Sketched Flowers on the panels using my MISTI, then carefully matted the panels in a thin border of black cardstock before mounting on cream cardbases - the perfect tone match for that watercolor cardstock.

As a final finishing touch, I added a good heavy coat of Glossy Accents to each of the leaves on each card - just a *tiny* bit of texture, but I love the dimension and shine it adds to the finished cards!

I think I will be playing with this design again - these leaves are so very fun to watercolor!
