Wishing You a Happy Birthday - Spellbinders Cut and Emboss Folders

Hello! I was recently given the opportunity to play with a couple of the fun new Spellbinder's Cut and Emboss Folders - I'm popping in this morning with a couple of cards using them both in similar, but slightly different ways! I used similar, but slightly different color combos for these cards - one a bit bolder, and one a bit softer. I love the details you get on these with a combination of embossing and die cutting, all in one pass!

This first card uses the beautiful Sedona Cut and Emboss Folder - definitely has a southwest feel, doesn't it?

Once I ran it through my Spellbinder's Platinum, I did some ink blending over the top using Distress Oxides in Rusty Hinge, Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, and Broken China. I also added some bold gold splatters with my Starry Colors Palette.

I added a stamped and die cut sentiment using Wishing Expressions stamp and die set - part of Spellbinder's Indie line that is only available at other retailers. For this one I die cut the word and shadow from gold glitter and black cardstock, then heat embossed the supporting sentiment on a thin strip of white cardstock. I mounted it all on a white cardbase, and added a few white jewels to the centers of the cutout portions - just to emphasize and make use of that space!

This second card uses the gorgeous Kyoto Cut and Emboss Folder - and it makes me think of the beach and ocean, something about the pattern reminds me of shells!

My color combo on this ended up looking very similar - but for this I used softer colors. My distress oxides for this card are Dried Marigold, Squeezed Lemonade, Shabby Shutters, and Tumbled Glass. I also added some softer gold splatters using my Starry Colors palette again.

I used the exact same stamp and die set, only this time used black cardstock and vellum for the main word, and heat embossed the supporting sentiment in white on black cardstock. I also added a few tiny white jewels to the base of those cutout portions for additional sparkle.

I really love making sets of cards - and when I can use one similar design and make two slightly different cards, that is one of my favorite things to do! These cards would be easy to recreate in multiples just changing up the color scheme and sentiments as well!
