Little Tangles Challenge #64 - Hello

Good morning! Excited to be joining the Little Tangles Design Team for 2016 - and it's time for our first challenge of the year! The challenge is appropriately, hellos! Here is my card:

I used the darling Life is Beautiful stamp set, and Tiny Triangles Dies for my card, only used it with some embossing pads instead of cutting all the way through the cardstock - a great way to create a soft background and stretch your dies!

I stamped the sweet girl and colored her out, then fussy cut out - then heat embossed the sentiment on a hand trimmed black cardstock banner. I machine stitched the green panel to some vellum trimmed slightly smaller than my card base, then used foam adhesive behind the green to attach to the cardbase. That way the vellum is floating in all it's lovely softeness around the edges of the card! I then attached the girl and sentiment also with foam adhesive. Added part of a doily on the side, a bit of washi tape, some jute twine, and an enamel dot to finish off.

Below are links to most of what I used on these cards. Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you will join in with the challenge and play along!

Good Things, Small Packages

Hello! I was SOOOO super excited to get my hands on the new Box Die from Neat and Tangled - which I think has been restocked and is already sold out again right now! Couldn't wait to play with this little cutie! Here is something I worked on the other night:

That little box makes me want to squeal at the cuteness! It was designed by Miriam Prantner - and I just love it! I die cut it here with some Brown Paper Bag cardstock from MFT, and tucked in some torn up gold dotted vellum from an little MME paper pad that I had. My sentiment is from the coordinating stamp set - Out of the Box - heat embossed in gold on a strip of vellum. Along with some random pattern paper from my stash, I added a torn strip of gold glitter washi tape along the bottom.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!!!

A parade of Eyelet Outlet cards

Good morning! Thought I would do a bit of a bigger catch up post this morning - in the craziness of moving and life last fall, I decided to step down from the Eyelet Outlet Design Team. These cards are all ones that were posted over on the Eyelet Outlet Blog, but somehow (I think!) missed being posted over here. So I decided to just post them all here at once - they range from spring themed, all the way to fall and Christmas. You can find more info on each post - I linked directly to where they were originally posted at Eyelet Outlet.

Little Tangles Challenge - Guest Designing!

Good morning! I was super excited a few weeks ago to get an email from Heather over at Little Tangles inviting me to play along with the new challenge as Guest Designer. I was super thrilled - especially since the new challenge is one of my very favorite techniques - watercolors!

I ended up making two cards with one of my favorite recently Neat and Tangled sets, Origami Map designed by the lovely Miriam Prantner. First up, a bold and somewhat masculine watercolor card!

For this one, I used MFT dye ink to do my watercoloring - they work beautifully! I stamped my map in a slightly darker blue, then smooshed the lighter blue on my non-stick mat and picked up the color with my waterbrush. I love how this gives a tone on tone effect! I stamped my sentiment and heat embossed on a thin strip of black cardstock, and added a few Crystal Clear sequins to finish it off (and cover up a little mistakenly dripped bit of blue on the bottom!) :)

Next up, I went with a totally bright and bold card using my Peerless watercolors and adding in the use of the new matching Origami Map Die!

First - I just have to say I LOVE this die! It is so perfect with the stamp - love how well everything lines up! I stamped and heat and embossed the map image in white, then softly watercolored it in. Added a bolder wash of the yellow, with a bit of orange mixed in on the background, then mounted the front part with foam adhesive over the top. The sentiment was a perfect fit for this bright and bold card - I heat embossed it on vellum, then attached it with a tiny bit of glue from my Zig 2 way glue pen - it dries very clear and doesn't show, so I love to use it for gluing down vellum!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you will go play along at Little Tangles - I'm looking forward to seeing your Watercolor creations!

Waving Hi - Triangles and Boats

Good morning! Dropping in with a fun card for a challenge - this uses two trends I have really enjoyed, combined on one card: Nautical, and Triangles!

I made this for the current Little Tangles Challenge - Saying Hello:
I used a new Neat and Tangled die that I hadn't had a chance to use yet - Tiny Triangles, and one of my favorite Neat and Tangled stamp sets - Sailmates for this card. I die cut the triangle background from some MFT cardstock, backed it with some soft blue cardstock, then die cut it again with gold glitter cardstock and glued the gold triangles into a few of the spaces. Heat embossed the boat on vellum and fussy cut out before adhering over a bundle of gold thread, then heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of trimmed black cardstock which I adhered with foam adhesive. Matted my front panel with black and white, then mounted with foam adhesive on my kraft card base that I used a Lil' Inker's die on.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!

Corner of Thankful and Grateful

Good afternoon! Just popping by quickly this afternoon to share a card that has super extra special meaning to me. I first made this card for a couple of challenges (which I will link below) - and then liked it so well that I decided to submit it to the most recent Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking Magazine Submission call. Just got the sad news today that they are closing their doors. This was the last thing I submitted before finding out, and now it seems especially appropriate to express my feelings to all the editors and amazing people I have met through this magazine and the publication and submission process:

The first challenge I originally made this for was the Little Tangles color challenge:

As well as the current Cure for the Monday Blues Challenge:

And finally, I haven't had a chance to play along with Word Art Wednesdays lately, so I thought I would link up over there as well:

I used the fun Neat and Tangled set called On the Corner, and coordinating Metal Die - love how perfectly they work together! Added the sentiments with On The Corner Additions, and heat embossed everything. My pattern paper is from a MME paper pad, and I added lots of foam adhesive between layers, and a few Ocean Breeze Satin sequins to finish it off.

Again - I have so much I could say, but I am choosing this time to be thankful for all the joys this publication has brought me. Thank you for stretching and growing me, for making me want to be a better cardmaker (and showing me how!), and for all the amazing friends I have gained through this portion of my hobby. I am truly thankful and grateful...
