Good morning! I'm up on the
Avocado Arts blog this morning
to share a few cards with you using the new stamp set for September - a perfectly timed fall set!!!
I'm a sucker for great sentiments - and love how they can take center stage on a card and make a bold statement at the same time, so the first stamp in this set that caught my eye was that fun sentiment at the bottom - PERFECT for watercolors!
I used some red, orange, and yellow MFT dye inks, and smooshed them onto my nonstick mat, then misted with water, and dipped my brush in to create a watercolor background on my watercolor paper. I stamped my sentiment over the top with Versafine ink (which won't run on the slightly damp paper!) and then misted it with Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine - I love how much shine it adds, as well as the way the color ran on some of the edges. To finish off, I machine stitched the top of the watercolor paper to my white card base - and left the rest hanging free, then I added some doodles with a white gel pen.
Next up - isn't that wheelbarrow the CUTEST thing ever?!?!? And the sentiment is just as darling!
I stamped this on a tag I cut with a Paper Smooches tag die, colored it in with Copics, then added my sentiment with coordinating Hero Arts Shadow ink. Finished off with a strip of gold washi, then some lovely thick Linen May Arts Ribbon. I threaded it through the hole, then machine stitched it closed before adding an October Afternoon button with some jute twine in it. Pattern paper is by MME and Basic Grey. I also used a bit of distress ink on the edges of the tag, just to soften the whiteness a bit.
And lastly - I thought it would be fun to use this set to make a distinctly non fall card:
I had die cut the notebook piece with a PTI die, and it was sitting on my desk when I misted the ink for the first card - so it ended up with some ink splatters on it. Instead of throwing it away, I decided to make use of it for this card. I stamped my image and sentiment, colored with Copics, and added a bit of Stickles to the pie and whip cream. Layered on some torn vellum that I stitched on with some sequins, and a bit of washi tape. Finished off with some pattern paper from Crate Paper, a doily, a bit of jute twine, and a decorative corner punch on the top edges.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!!!
