Through Rain or Shine

Good morning! Happy New Years Eve!!! Thought I would share another card today from my Dirty Dozen days earlier this year - this is one of my very favorites! LOVE how it came out! I used Unity Stamp's Rain or Shine itty bitty, stamped and very carefully fussy cut it out, then mounted it over my card base that I had stenciled with a Tim Holtz stencil and distress ink, then misted with Mister Huey's. I left the image plain, except for some Stickles on the umbrella, then added a touch of washi and jute twine.

I am linking this up with the current CAS-ology challenge - Light:

Be a Girl, Woman, and Lady

Good morning! Wanted to share a card today that I made earlier this year during my term on the Splitcoast Stampers Dirty Dozen. I used some watercolors, MME pattern paper, hand trimmed banners, a fun paperclip with jute twine, a touch of enamel dots, and a fun stamp image from a Unity stamp set called Hiya Gorgeous:

Also linking up with a couple of challenges - the current Cure for the Monday Blues:

Thanks for dropping by today! Have a wonderful day!!!

Christmas Card Wrap Up - and WCMD Giveaway Winner!

Good morning! I had great intentions of getting all of these posted before or on Christmas, but it just didn't happen! So...although it is a bit late, I just combined them all into one post to get them finished before New Years at least! I am also announcing the winner of the WCMD giveaway at the bottom of this post - so make sure and scroll to the bottom! :-)

This first card is actually one that I made with a set I got published in the December issue. The call was to make 4 coordinating cards with one pattern paper pad and one stamp set. Somehow I lost track and made 5, so I picked my favorites and submitted them, and this was the leftover one! Using Neat and Tangled's Simple Christmas and an October Afternoon Paper pad, as well as a bit of fussy cutting, heat embossing, jute twine, and circle punching:

The next card was also a submission card from a while back that was never picked up - for this one I used a Unity Stamp image called Santas, Stockings, and Candy Canes, etc... {Wit and Wisdom}, stamped and heat embossed on vellum, then used some machine stitching to attach it to my pattern paper.

And lastly, a couple using the Unity October 2013 Kit of the Month - Oh Christmas Tree (this one pulls up as the most popular KOTM when you sort by most popular, and I can easily imagine why!)

For this first one, I also used my Bow die from My Craft Spot to cut a felt bow - LOVE how it cuts the felt! Added the image and sentiment heat embossed, some Glitz Designs pattern paper with torn edges, and a couple of jingle bells as well!

And finally, the same image with a different sentiment on green chalkboard paper - chalkboard technique! A little pattern paper from October Afternoon, and some glitter washi with jute twine to finish off!

And...here is the winner! Sorry I'm so late!!!

YAY! Congratulations Kathy! Please send me an email at housesbuiltofcards@gmail.com when you get a chance so I can get that package mailed out to you soon (once I finish unpacking a few more goodies to add!)

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you had a very Merry Christmas!!!

Red Roses Merry Christmas

Good morning again! Just thought I would share one more today - I am still in love with these beauties from Altenew, and thought they came together quite lovely on a Christmas card:

I used Altenew's Painted Flowers stamp set, layered several different MFT inks, then added my heat embossed sentiment from My Craft Spot on a banner cut with a Simon Says Stamp die. A little gold thread, some Pretty Pink Posh gold sequins, and some matting on a kraft card base - I love it!

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share with you!

Big Red Bow and Bling!

Good morning!!! Still can't believe Christmas is almost here already! Just sharing a card that I made a while back for a publication call that wasn't picked up. I cut a HUGE bow out of red cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo for this one:

I can't tell you how long it took, but after trimming it to fit my card base, I covered the entire thing in Glossy Accents - it is so shiny and pretty in real life! Added a sentiment from Neat and Tangled's Santa's Tags, and some bling from Eyelet Outlet to finish it off.

This happens to be a perfect fit for the current Little Tangles Challenge - bling, bling!:
Also a perfect fir for the current Curtain Call Challenge:

Thanks for stopping by! Once again - have a wonderful day!!!

Negative Cut Merry Christmas

Good morning! Suddenly realizing that I need to post a few Christmas cards quickly, before Christmas is over with!

Also wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten to draw a winner yet from the World Card Making Day Hop - I just have some extra goodies I want to include that are still packed in a box somewhere and I can't find them! So...I might just draw a winner in the next day or two and see if they are willing to wait for me to find that stuff before I mail their prize out. Moving is such an adventure! :-)

This is a simple Christmas card that I made using my Silhouette Cameo and one of the cut files from their store:

I cut it out of white cardstock, backed and mounted it on some Echo Park pattern paper, added a strip of glitter washi, and a bit of Glossy Accents with a heavy dose of silvery tinsel glitter on a few spots.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!!!

Fox Christmas Pillow Box

Good morning! Just popping in with a fun project for Unity Friends with Flair this morning:

It is a simple pillow box to give a little something special for Christmas. Haven't even decided what I am going to use it for yet! I cut the kraft pillow box with my Silhouette Cameo, then I used Unity's Foxy Christmas stamp set, stamped it on a frame cut with a Paper Smooches die, and added some embossed vellum. Finished off with some May Arts ribbon, some jute twine, and an October Afternoon button.

Thanks for stopping by this morning! Have a great weekend! :-)

Distress Ink Roses

Hello! Popping in with one last card for the day! Since I'm hoping to get crafting again soon, trying to clear a bit of the backlog of unshared cards!

I also am linking this up as a final entry into Virginia's View Challenge - All Things Distressed:

I also thought it was a fun match with the current colors for the Unity {be inspired} Challenge:

For this card, I used lots of fun Crate Paper pattern paper, a die cut a front panel with an Avery Elle die. The scallops were cut with a Lil' Inker's die that is one of my favorites! I stamped my Unity floral stamp called Born an Original by coloring directly on the stamp with some of my Tim Holtz distress markers. It is hard to tell, but I used two different shades of each color to add depth, coloring as quickly as possible, then stamped it onto my cardstock panel. I also distressed the edges a little with some distress ink to soften the stark white. Added some of my favorite jute twine, and stamped my sentiment from He's a Wordy Buck.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!!!

Distress Bleed Technique Card

Good morning! I'm back to share a previously made card that I hadn't shared yet:

I also wanted to link this up with Virginia's View Challenge - All Things Distressed before it was too late!

I also thought I would link this up with this weeks Simon Says Monday Challenge - Anything Goes:

For this card, I used a technique that I saw from Jennifer McGuire's blog (her post is HERE) - basically I inked up my image from Unity Stamp Co called Rejoice for our SILENT NIGHT {wit and wisdom} with a few different colors of distress ink, stamped it on watercolor paper, then stamped again with Versamark black ink. Then I misted it with water, and allowed it to dry, bleeding wherever the colors decided to land. I added a bow cut with a My Craft Spot die from some handmade paper, a heart cut with a Paper Smooches die, some bling, pattern paper, and a black mat.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!!!

Hello - I'm back!

Good afternoon! Whew...moving is a lot of work! We have now been in our house for an entire week, and I can probably say we are a little over halfway unpacked - and slowly continuing to dig our way out of boxes! We have taken a little bit of time out to get a Christmas tree, make a gingerbread house, and spend time with family, as well as get started on homeschooling in between. I also seem to have been knocked down with a nasty cold that has stolen my voice, which is a bit inconvenient!

But, in the middle of it all, I have been itching to get crafty and make a card! So, even though my craft room is FAR from unpacked and set up, I was able to scrounge a few limited supplies, and sat on the floor and put this together for a couple challenges that I have been watching roll by:

The first challenge was one I saw this morning - the brand new Runway Inspired Challenge:

Next up, I loved the new Altenew Challenge (and was super excited to be one of the winners of last month's challenge!) - and though it's hard to see in the photo, the sentiment is stamped in gray ink, since I couldn't find a black ink pad!

I also added some bling I happened to find, so I thought I would link this up to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Bling it On:

I used two new Altenew sets that I received in the mail but hadn't had a chance to ink up before moving - Lacy Scrolls and Sentiments and Quotes. I found my PTI inks, so I used those, adding two shades of colors for depth, and stamping off some of the leaves. Added some pattern paper from an American Crafts paper pad, and a bit of bling from Eyelet Outlet.

Thanks for stopping by today! I will be back soon with a winner from the World Card Making Day Winner hop - sorry I'm late, but even though we have been in our house for a week, we only JUST got internet today. I have a lot of catching up to do!
Have a wonderful day!!!

MCS Challenge - World Shape Christmas Card

Good morning! Excited to share my card with you today for the new challenge at My Craft Spot: Christmas Shape Cards!

I used a file from the Silhouette Store and my Cameo machine to cut out this shape - making it 5 1/2 inches across - nice and big!

I glued the layers together, and added a soft layer of inking with white pigment ink around the edges to help it pop a little.

Next, I die cut a banner using Straight Ribbon Banner Metal Dies, and heat embossing my sentiment on there from Christmas Banner sentiments, then attached it with foam adhesive for a little pop of dimension.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!!!

Distress Peony Watercolor Resist

Good morning! Dropping by with another card I made for the recent publication call that never made it to acceptance emails - had lots of fun with distressing on this one:

This is a perfect fit for the current Virginia's View Challenge - All Things Distressed:

I am also linking this up with Unity Friends with Flair.

For the flower, I used Donna Peony and heat embossed in white, then watercolored over the top for an emboss resist effect. The sentiment is from Wordy Buck, and I stamped it off a couple times in a shadow effect. Used my Tim Holtz distress tool to distress the edges, added some pattern paper from MME and Glitz Designs, then inked the distressed edges and wet them a little so the distress ink would bleed away a little. Added some jute string to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!!!

Deck the Halls with Inky Paws Blog Hop

Good morning! Excited this morning to be playing with my Newton's Nook Designs goodies this morning and joining them for a fun holiday blog hop this morning!

I still can't get enough of the cuteness of Holiday Hounds, so I decided to use that set for my card!

I made a simple watercolor background for him - I like how it kind of looks like snow being tossed up! Heat embossed the sentiment on a black hand trimmed banner with white embossing powder and inked the edges with some white ink, then added a strip of glitter washi tape and a few enamel dots. Finished off with some fun Echo Park pattern paper for the background.

2014 WCMD Winners Hop and Giveaway

Good morning! You may remember a few weeks ago the winners of the 2014 World Card Making Day were announced, and the winning cards were to be published in the April 2015 issue of Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking Magazine. Sadly, now with the ending of this publication in February, the winning cards will no longer be published. Sooooo...we all decided to get together and have a blog hop to share our winning creations, and also giveaway some of the goodies we got in our prize boxes that maybe we already had or didn't need!

You should have hopped here from Mandy LeCroix - the entire blog hop lineup is at the bottom if you just happened along and want to start at the beginning.

I won in the Christmas card category - here is my winning card:

For this, I made a background blending lots of different distress inks, then used a Tim Holtz stencil and some white pigment into to add the "splotchy" layer. My white deer die cut was actually leftover from another project and still laying on my desk - so I decided to add that, then stamped my sentiment from My Craft Spot, added some jute twine around the deer's neck, and then added a fun sprinkling of clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

We are in the process of moving, so I unfortunately don't have a picture of my giveaway goodies right now - but I will box them all up and send them to one lucky person who leaves a comment today! Next stop along the hop is Piali Biswas, so hop on over there next!

Here is the entire blog hop lineup in case you get lost along the way:

Thanks for hopping along with us and celebrating! Have a wonderful day!!!
