Good morning, and Happy New Year! First of all - I have to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for all the sweet comments and love left on my 2015 year in review posts from last year! I kind of felt like I was cheating by posting those, and am overwhelmed by the sweet comments on all of them. I will be going through and picking winners from those posts this weekend or early next week - so if you haven't left comments and would like to, there is still time!
I had a wonderful break and so enjoyed spending lots of time with friends and family over Christmas and New Years - but I am also very excited to be back in my craft room as well! I have a pile of Design Team assignments calling my name, but I really needed to do something just for fun to ease back into the crafting waters. I don't know why it is hard to get started again sometimes after a break, and other times I feel like my head is full of ideas that I can't wait to get out! This time I just needed to pull out something random and just play - and coloring is always a relaxing way for me to feel creative again as well. So...without further ado, here is my first card of 2016!

I pulled out a list of challenges to use as inspiration, and ended up deciding to play along with the current Wplus9 Throwback Thursday Challenge (I didn't have the die set, but was inspired by the scallop frame on her last example, and pulling out a couple older stamp sets that hadn't seen much love lately):
I also decided to play along with the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Something New (Although I have used this image once before, I had never actually colored it in - when I got it I found it intimidated! So...this time I plunged in and colored it!):
Also, the Simon Says Monday Challenge - Something New (same as above!):
And finally, linking up with Word Art Wednesdays - Anything Goes:
I stamped my image and sentiment using my MISTI so I could stamp it twice and get a nice crisp black impression. I colored her in with Copics, then used some distress ink around the edges of the scallop frame. Attached to the pattern paper, then added some glitter washi from my stash, a bit of torn doily, wrapped them both around the back, and added some machine stitching. Finished off with a few clear Pretty Pink Posh sequins.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Supplies are linked below - have a wonderful day!!!

ReplyDeleteWell, I think you know a card is a success if when someone looks at it for the first time, it brings a tear to their eye. It did for me. Such a beautiful, gentle style.
