Watercolor Squirrel Scene - Technique Tuesday

Good morning! Last week was my youngest daughter's 14th birthday - so I made a super special birthday card for her using some stamps and dies from Technique Tuesday! I was so thrilled with how this came out! She is my animal lover, and this past summer she had the chipmunks (and deer for that matter!) eating out of her hands each time we went camping. So this was a perfect fit for her!

I started off by die cutting Taller Than Trees from watercolor cardstock, and coloring the die cut image with my watercolors. I also stamped and watercolored the squirrel and acorn from Sammy the Squirrel and cut them out.

I did some blue watercolor on a panel of cardstock to create a sky background as well! Once all those pieces dried, I assembled them with foam adhesive between the layers, stamped my sentiment, and mounted the entire panel on a white cardbase.

Seriously love how cute this little squirrel is!

  1. I love squirrels and this card is right down my alley!! In fact, my email address has squirrelnut in it!! I used to work at the post office and my customers knew I loved squirrels and they brought squirrel pictures, stuffed animals, figurines, cards and so much more. I had a lot of it displayed for years until a postal inspector told me I had to take it down. One gentleman came in and told me he was in San Francisco and saw something and thought of me and bought it. He hoped I would not be offended. It was a metal sign with a squirrel standing up with his ahem "acorns" hanging down. The caption read--Hello Ladies!! I laughed and laughed.. we all got a kick out of it. I told him I was not offended. But in Yulee, FL, for a long time, I was the squirrel lady.
