Monochromatic Floral Frames - Pinkfresh Studio

Good morning! Today I'm sharing a set of simple monochromatic floral cards - with a tutorial video created for Pinkfresh Studios! You can find the video in HD over on the Pinkfresh YouTube Channel HERE, or watch it below in this post. Feel free to ignore the 2018 watermark on these photos - I actually created these cards and this video a while ago, but scheduling didn't work out to share them until now, and I didn't want to redo the watermark! :)

These floral cards were so fun to make - I combined the lovely Floral Frame Stamp set with the coordinating Floral Frame Dies, and added sentiments from 3 different Pinkfresh stamp sets - Train Ride, Pretty Paisley, and Folk Tree. All finished off with a splash of black using Licorice Liquid watercolors!

Here is a video sharing my process on how I put these together:

I love taking an intricate image like this, stamping it on colored cardstock, then adding a bit of deeper color with Copic markers. It is such a great way to use detailed images without a ton of coloring.

Here is a closer look at each color. As I mention in the video, I started off on this one by adding colo to the leaves:

On these next two, I instead added the color to the flowers. Since the flowers are larger images, I found that it seemed to pop more, and I ended up preferring it this way:

Which color combo do you like best? I can't choose - I actually love all these 3 colors together!

Have you ever tried to use this technique? Would love to hear if you end up giving it a try!

  3. Yet again you've taken a busy image (that would scare me away) and made me realise how keeping it simple can be so beautiful.
