Good morning! Happy World Cardmaking Day! I'm popping in to share the card I created for a special YouTube Live with Lea Lawson to celebrate the day! You can watch the replay and how both of our cards came together HERE if you are interested! It was so fun to see how we used the exact same set to get two COMPLETELY different looks! And after the beginning technical difficulties - we had so much fun chatting, answering your questions, and hanging out with everyone who was able to join us.
I used a more traditional color combo - and did some masking to create multiple colored flowers with my layering stencils. I could have done all the flowers one color, but it was so easy and fun to mix them up a bit!
I started off by stamping my floral image with Metropolis ink and leaving it lined up in my MISTI to add Detail Black later. Detail black is a hybrid ink, so needs heat setting or more time to dry so it doesn't smear with the ink blending, so doing it in gray gave me something to line up my stencils with to make it easier to mask the image, and then I could still add that nice crisp black detail at the end.
I used a fun array of nice bright colors to ink blend, then stamped the black over the top, and die cut with the coordinating die. The background was created with 3 layers of the Simply Diamonds die glued together for a bit of dimension. I also added a touch of ink blending on the background of my card base, to help that diamond pattern pop on my card front. LOVE that extra pink detail!
I tucked my sentiment from the stamp set into one of the windows so that I could arrange my flowers around it. Then curled up the edges of the flowers a bit with my fingers, and used a bit of liquid glue to just adhere down the centers - that left the edges floating free for a bit of extra dimension.
And finally? You know a card isn't finished until you add the bling! A few Metallic Silver Pearls were the perfect finishing touch!
We also have a few challenges going for World Card Making Day - you can check those out on our blog HERE, and in our Facebook Friends Group HERE (if you aren't a member, you will have to answer the questions and join the group).
