Ippity Say it with Sentiments Challenge

The Challenge this week over at Unity Opportunity Challenge Blog is to focus on Sentiments. So I pulled out one of my favorite Ippity sets, Delightful Little Things. Here is what I came up with:

It is super simple, but I like it that way! I used some MME 6x6 papers and a bit of pink ribbon from my stash.

Finished off with some doodling, and a bit of bling in the lower right corner.

MFT Getting Sketchy #66 - Cowgirl

Good morning - and what a beautiful day it is! Today I am sharing my entry for this weeks Getting Sketchy Challenge with MFT. This is the birthday card I made for my best friend - and for once, I had this done earlier in the week! I just didn't want to post it until I gave it to her! In my rush to get it done, I made a little boo-boo that I didn't have time to totally fix...I don't know if you will be able to see it, but it drives me nuts! Oh well... So, here it is:

I used lots of October Afternoon paper from the 8x8 Sasparilla paper pad - LOVE it all! Trying really hard to resist my tendency to hoard the stuff I love, so I cut into lots of it for this card! 

I paper-pieced the cute cowgirl on the cloud background cut into a circle with a Spellbinders Nestability. Used Copics for the hair and skin.

The border was cut with a Fiskars border punch, and the banner I just trimmed by hand. 

I used Tim Holtz distress ink to ink all the paper edges, and pop-dotted the circle and sentiment banner. I curved the "Howdy Friend" as I stuck it to my clear block, so it would match the circle shape, then stamped half on each side to frame that sweet cowgirl. 

Finished off with just a touch of PTI twine to tie a bow.

FWF - My Mom's Birthday Card

Happy Friday all! I kind of just realized that I hadn't shared this card I made my Mom for her birthday. I didn't want to share it before I gave it to her, then I got sick and missed her party...anyway, so here it is now! This is also my post for this weeks Friends with Flair on the Unity blog!

I used a couple different KOTM stamps. The bird one is from the February 2011 Kit, and the sentiment is from  September 2011 Kit. It has been a while, so I'm not 100% sure, but I think all of the papers are from My Mind's Eye 6x6 paper pads.

I used some different pattern paper to paper piece the bird. I tried to cut it out a little wonky on purpose, but it only shows at the top, so it really just looks crooked which bugs me, but you could see it a little better in person hiding behind the flowers!

And speaking of flowers...didn't those come out cool?!?!? I am kinda proud of them, cause I came up with them all on my own! I just cut some felt in a circle, then did a slightly crooked and wavy spiral cut around it, and rolled it up starting on the outside. Added a couple of pearls to the centers to finish them off, and then cut some leaves by hand to tuck behind them. I might try to do a tutorial sometime on how I did the flowers.

I also used a lot of Tim Holtz distress ink on all the edges. 

Finished off with a couple of stick on pearls under the bird to accent the swirly things.

Another Peachy Peek - and Mojo Monday and Color Throwdown Challenges

I've got one last sneak peek before the new release tonight over on the Peachy Keen Connection! I used the new April Kit of the Month for this one - and am also entering it in a couple of challenges.

I used this week's sketch from Mojo Monday:

And the colors inspiration came from this weeks Color Throwdown:

Once again - there are some of the CUTEST images this month! Can't wait for you to see the whole release tomorrow! For this card, I used a bunch of yummy Basic Grey Picadilly 6x6 paper. The blue from the color combo above isn't as obvious as I wanted, but you can see it in the green background paper. See it there?

I cut and embossed the circle with my Spellbinders Nestabilities. The border along the left side was cut with a Fiskars border punch. 

I paper-pieced the coffee cup, and added some Glossy Accents to the coffee in the cup, and on the eyes. 

I stamped the sentiment in 3 parts so that would stack, instead of be one long sentiment. The banner was handcut, and I wrapped some ribbon from my stash around it, then added a PTI button with some PTI button twine. 

Inked the edges of everything with Tim Holtz distress ink in Vintage Photo, and pop-dotted the oval and banner from the card base.

Papertrey Ink Made it Monday: Generational Stamping

I fell in love with the technique for this week's Made It Monday Challenge for Papertrey Ink - Generational Stamping! You can follow the link to watch the video, but the idea is that you ink each stamp up, then stamp twice so you get two different shades of the same color - great way to stretch your stamp pads! So...here is what I came up with: 

I used the PTI "Mehndi Medallions", "a big thank you" (the free set from a couple months ago with an order) and three different PTI ink cubes:  Enchanted Evening, Aqua Mist, and Spring Moss.

I followed the example from the video, and distressed the edges of the cardstock, added some machine stitching, and matted with a couple colors of PTI cardstock. The sentiment I stamped with Versamark Ink. 

Finished off by wrapping a bit of twine around the first couple of layers. The thing that bothers me the most is that the sentiment is *slightly* crooked! The pictures actually make it look worse than it is - but it still drives me nuts! Might have to remake this one sometime - and get it on straight!

New Peachy Keen Kit of the Month Sneak Peaks!!!

Good morning! I don't know if you've been looking at the sneak peeks for the new Peachy Keen release - but as always - they are ADORABLE!!! On Thursday, you will be able to find and order them HERE. Today is my day to share a new sneak with you! Be warned...it is a LONG post! Here is my first card:

I started out with a cut and embossed square using my Nestabilities. I paper-pieced the cupcake using the new April Kit of the Month, and used one of the add-on kits to add the candles. 

All the papers are from Echo Park's new This and That 6x6 paper pad - such pretty papers!  

I used some Tim Holtz distress ink on the edges of the card, and used a couple of Copic markers to add some extra color to the candles and the cupcake paper holder.

 

For the sentiment, I used My Creative Time's stitched oval die, then attached it with some Crinkle Ribbon, a bit of twine, and a button from Papertrey ink. I used a pop-dot to hold it down on the end, and also attached the scallop rectangle with pop-dots for dimension.

My second card also used the April Kit of the Month, and I added a face from my Wide Eyed Child Face Assortment.

Used Copic markers for the "coffee" and the rosy cheeks, then applied some Glossy Accent to the eyes, and "coffee" in the cup. 

Used some more distress ink, some papers and ribbons/lace from my stash, and finished off with a bit of bling, and some faux stitching.

And...my final sneak peek is actually the first project I made! My husband was out of town on business for a week, and when my girls and I went to pick him up from the airport, we took these to him! These new sets arrived in the mail that day - so I had to play with them right away!

The card is a 6x6 piece of Cosmo Cricket paper, folded in half. Makes such a fun size card! I colored up that ADORABLE clock with my Copic makers, stuck him to the card with pop-dots, and hand cut two banners for the sentiment. Finished off with some Baker's Twine tied around the outside edge. 

The milk carton was one of my first cuts using my new Silhouette Cameo machine (insert big squeal of excitement here!) - I LOVE how well this machine cuts. More on that later though! That number background is also part of the new release coming on Thursday! Isn't it great?!?!?!  Added some Baker's twine, sheer ribbon, and a sentiment from the April Kit of the Month. We filled it with some yummy snacks for him to eat on the drive home from the airport - figured he'd be hungry after traveling all day!

MFT #65 and Play Date Cafe Color Splash

Well...seem to be struggling with the Mojo today. Not really happy with how this turned out, but at this point I  don't have any better ideas, and at least it's done! Maybe tomorrow will be better! Just don't have time to make it any better before the challenges it is for are due. Anyway, this is for this weeks My Favorite Things Getting Sketchy #65, and the Playdate Cafe Color Splash Challenge.

I layered some papers together from my stash, stamped the Pure Innocence image, and colored it a bit with some Copics. The sentiment is stamped on brown paper with PTI white ink. 

Inked the edges of everything with Tim Holtz distress ink, and tucked a little heart shaped doily in there. 

So...I promise I will be back tomorrow with something better...some sneaky peeks for the new Peachy Keen releases! They are super cute and fun as always!!! I have had these waiting to share for a bit now, and can't wait to show you!
